I mean the chances have to be pretty bad. Bitcoin hasn't gained that much traction as of now and people interested in Bitcoin don't go hiking and build a word out of freaking rocks :D

lmao...no chance of finding an iPad loaded with bitcoins seeing as how way back then Apple was still officially banning bitcoin :p

Not a big apple fan but didn't they changed their policies few months ago after banning bitocin related apps last november , and few Bitcoin apps made comeback on iOS devices after they made changes in their policies.

It sonds impossible to me that someone that goes to a hiking trip would know about bitcoin, even if they did know that, why would you spell bitcoin with rocks? :D :D Maybe your sister tried to find a fun way to cheer you up. I guess she managed to do it anyways. :)

I would honestly freak out. Living in South Africa especially, not many people know about bitcoin in this country. I would probably assume its aliens, like those crop circles u guys get in the US  ;D

That's one of the best thing that cryptocurrencies have got going for them; marketing done by the users rather than some central entity :)

Picture is kind of ironic though.  Bitcoin is as far away from nature as you can get.  Need a lot of technology for it.

vandalism to promote bitcoin?

How is spelling something out using rocks vandalism?
It's not like that was a national park or something.

Looks like someone put some effort into that.  Is that on a trail so many people can see it?  It is clever and almost feels like a subliminal message.  Your out clearing your mind and you pass that and before you know it your thinking about Bitcoin. 

I think I'd like to support more "Natural" forms of advertisement of Bitcoin in this way.  Thanks alot for sharing this find, it has really made me think.

Aliens would never build something like bitcoin.  They probably already communicate a lot faster than we do, so a decentralized system would be intolerably slow.

That would be quite a boring prank though, why would someone do that? They knew that a Bitcoin fan would come in that particular week and in that particular spot?

It was a prank by some local kids.  Real Bitcoin types never go outside, much less do anything physical like moving rocks around.   :D
