Title: [ASK] about cold/offline storage address
Post by: nugrata on August 08, 2014, 05:31:26 AM
So, I'm using vanity gen to generate the address (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.0) on veery old offline computer, No wifi, no LAN cable, fresh installed OS, then I print the address detail such as private key etc. what I do next is adding that address to blockchain.info as 'watch only address'. what I ask is.. Is that address cold enough? I never import the private key anywhere.

Yes, that is secure enough. Remember to hide the hardcopy of the private key somewhere safe but easily accessible to you. Keep a duplicate hardcopy if you deem it necessary. For greater security, you might want to wipe and reformat the computer that you generated the private key on. A triple Gutmann reformat would certainly clear all doubts. Some printers keep a copy of printed files though, so you may want to look into that too.
