The CFPB is urging consumers to be wary of wide fluctuations in bitcoin exchange rates, potential hacking, theft and stolen funds.

"Virtual currencies are not backed by any government or central bank, and at this point consumers are stepping into the Wild West when they engage in the market," CFPB Director Richard Cordray said in a statement.

How state the obivious can cause a drop in price? This is commom sense among all bitcoiners

I think the reason that BTC dropped had to do with this. This warning does take away somewhat of the legitimacy of bitcoin to consumers so they will be less likely to buy and use bitcoin.

I think this is a good thing for BTC... gets rid of scammer websites.
