Title: Nothing interesting on Bitcointalk - Where is the innovation?
Post by: ChuckOne on August 12, 2014, 05:31:33 PM
Where does the innovation take place?

New schemes, fresh ideas, new implementations. Where?

Well peoples are too lazy to make a new hash for cryptocoins. First there were Bitcoin then somebody made SHA coins after that ASICs are come. The next step is Litecoin (scrypt algorithm) they said "it is ASIC resistant" ,but now there are scrypt ASICs. The peoples made X11 X13 POS and the others. THERE ARE NO ASIC RESISTANT COIN. As long as there will be new algorithms there will be peoples who make new type of ASICs. See it at BTC.

It was interesting here a couple of years ago. All the useless clones drove any interesting stuff away.

Man, they are still here, but tis bloody hard to find anymore... and a lot of stuff does not get the attention that it deserves. Case in point is Cryptonite (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=713538.0). They had a beta test for at least a month bringing some real badass tech to the party and no one could be bothered to even test it.

Speak for yourself; I'm busy working on Cuckoo Cycle, a new PoW (not a hash).

All the guys developing the good ideas don't post about them on here anymore.

1 of 3 things happen:

1. You get told you are a nut job/scammer/troll/n00b by the "experts" for thinking big
2. The idea is stolen, whipped into a baaaaad implementation, pumped, dumped, game over.
3. Your great idea gets lost in the sea of shit coins lol

Multi-pow going beyond asic-resistant to something which allows everyone to keep on mining the same coin with less worries?

To those saying a asic-proof coin cannot exist: can you guess why GPUs used to be ASICs but they are now generic processors?

The only true ASIC resistant crypto is one that doesn't use any form of POW in the regular sense

If you are searching for fresh, new, innovative ideas just open the altcoin announcement section of the forum.
Everyday there are new coins and some of them are really different from the others, read their specifications
and have fun studying how they works (the altcoins are open source, almost all of them).
