Hi guys,

Money pot (https://www.moneypot.com) is a social bitcoin gambling game, based on quite a unique concept  ( I came up with myself ), and it's quite simple and fun. All you have to do is bet a certain amount, watch the multiplier increase and cash out before its too late. It's 99% luck, but with some skill it's possible to overcome the house edge (at the expense of other players).

If you want to give it a try without commitment, there's a builtin faucet that gives out 2 bits (2 millionths of a bitcoin) an hour.

I ran a previous promotion (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=709200.160) giving $2 away to try the game, but today I'm going to try something different:

Play the game, and if you have a net loss -- I'll give you back your loss (up to a maximum for $5 USD)! If you win, the money is all yours! If you lose, I'll send you up to $5 of it back!

All you have to do is link to your profile and tell me how much your net loss is e.g.


This offer is valid only to bitcointalk users with 21 posts or more (non-spam), it's valid until I close it (I'll update this post when I do). You will be able to claim your loses (up to $5) once per day, but only on the additional loss made since the last time you claimed. You may only claim, if you've lost at least 1000 bits (to save me having to top up people who lose faucet-level amounts :P)

Thanks. I'm doing my best to scale up =)  I've had lots of interest from people wanting to invest -- however our current bankroll (~100 BTC) compared the amount people are wager, doesn't seem to warrant it.  An affiliate program however, is definitely on the books if there's interest.

A bit is 100 satoshis, it's not that uncommon of a unit -- it's supported in blockchain.info, coinbase, bitpay etc. It's a bit confusing at first, but hey, I'm just skating where the puck is going.

Did you use the auto cashout feature? I just ran some tests, and reviewed the logic -- and it appears fine. Assuming that the auto cash out was sent to the server, it should have definitely auto cashed you out -- even if the game crashed at the same point.  If you used manual cash out however, it's entirely possible -- as due to network latency you will always cash out slightly later than you expect. I have more detailed logs I can review if you think a problem has occurred

@bitjam: I'm looking into what seems like it could be a potential race condition if your auto cash out is set exactly to game crash. In a hundred games that I've tried, it hasn't happened to me once -- but I'm in the process of rewriting that code so it can never happen again

I wish I could unfollow this thread.  All these "bits" posts with numbers in the 1000s looks like some altcoin.  Damn bitcointalkforum for not allowing giving me an out!

These guys are just lucky I'm not a mod, I would remove all these queer "bits" references and covert them to satoshis or kSat or mBTC whichever was most relvent.  Weirder still, it seems like "bits" is equivalent to uBTC which is obviously transparant.  Who came up with this "bits" thing anyway?  How did this nonsense start?
