I am a network guy and I work for a company that used to be one of the internet pioneers. Recently however, we have been sidestepped by other companies a bit,  but we are still around and trying to turn things around with new software that frankly is pretty awesome. Anyway, we had an all hands meeting the other day and after the meeting I went up to our CEO and asked him what's his opinion on taking BTC as a form of payment. I was expecting a very short answer that was negative, and to my surprise it was completely the opposite. He seemed very interested and asked me question after question about mining, MT GOX, alt-coins etc. We spoke  for a bout 5 minutes and afterwards he told me to send an email to some of the guys way up on the pole and CC him, which I did! I'm SO EXCITED! I feel like i just asked a girl out to prom :D and she said welll.... maybe  LULZ.

That's awesome. What's the name of the company you work for? It's nice to hear about somebody's boss being receptive when you hear about so many bosses who won't accept an idea that didn't originate with them.

Bitcoin transaction only work well for cross border trade. For local trade, it is usually best to use cash or credit card.

We are based out of the us but our customers are world wide
EDIT: this did not come out right. We are based out OF US, and by that i meant like our HQ is inside the united states.

Maybe we can send some emails to the company to help them with their decision to take Bitcoin. Some of us might already use them.

That is really great. And it is for sure a trend: from now on more and more companies will look forward to accept and to work with cryptocurrencies. When we take into consideration the technological evolution, it's a very natural step.

If the company provide service world wide, you can probably advertise here and see how many will use your company service and pay using bitcoin.

there is multiple good reasons to not associate a legit business with a forum username. mostly to keep business/pleasure as 2 separate things and also a bit of risk reduction of potentially tarnishing your employers brand if you said something bad here, which would lead back to employer.

so yea we understand

one thing i would say though. ask your boss for you to be paid your wages in bitcoin (saves him converting it to fiat as much)

No just your boss, there are still many employers who are considering to take btc as a form of payment. Good news!

Any news regarding companies willing to accept bitcoin as a form of payment is great.I really hope there will be more people like this who take this step and if that happens we could say that bitcoin will definitely continue to grow.

Great news, if we could get the company name (I know you would prefer not to disclose this information), that would be awesome. Imagine being the guy that got the CEO of apple to accept bitcoin. You'd be pretty famous and respected here on the forums!

How is cash/card still better?

For instance, I need to make a payment for some goods I bought this morning and need to pay via bank transfer. Pain in the arse, need to logon and setup a new recipient, receive a call from my bank confirming the new recipient, then able to transfer funds.

With BTC, I could of sent to his address in seconds.

Come on guys, the OP obviously works for Yahoo!  I knew that within the first two sentences.  Not sure why Yahoo! is using a single NAT IP for all of their employees, though...   ::)

I've suspected the Yahoo/China connection would covet Bitcoin as their edge.

This is great news especially since people are always so shy about mentioning bitcoin for getting a negative answer for you to get a positive one and it seeming to start to get the ball rolling for a company to potentially start allowing this as a form of payment. I really hope you get even more positive answers from the people higher up and this starts becoming a payment option for another company :)

Very interesting! Thank you for taking the initiative to do this! Things like this will help pave the way forward for bitcoin. The more companies that use it the more people will look at it and say hmm, all these companies are accepting it as payment, it must be legit! That will help  user adoption in the long run and finally get us going forward on a path that gets away from USD :)

E-mail, but I was joking about it being Yahoo! simply because that really did pop in my head as I read the first two sentences.  The bit about the NAT was meant to allude to that.

I would disagree that people are shy about mentioning bitcoin to others. I think that people that own bitcoin have an incentive to mention it to others as it will get more people to use it and cause the bitcoin they own to increase in value.

Our company started accepting bitcoin for online purchases last year.
So far, 2 orders have been paid with bitcoin, one with 0.0463BTC and the other with 0.3275BTC.
We typically receive about $35,000.00 in credit card payments on about 50 orders per month.
Bitcoin is presented as a payment method on every order right next to credit card and PayPal options.

It's already exploded a few times I think we've made good progress and of course I think there will be more explosions and finally Bitcoin will become mainstream...thats the day when we all celebrate and stop seeing threads about cashing out in fiat.

Yes, indeed good new.

But you gave really good hints to peope identify where you work, if they really implement Bitcoin as payment and it goes to the news(Internet pioneer - sidestepped by other companies - with branches around the world -  probably they have no 3th part network stuff).

Good to know that someone high up in executive hierarchy isn't a flaming asshole  ;)

This is good for bitcoins because it means that the adoption is spreading among all the major and minor companies, the future is really bright :)

Interesting! Very good to see a company presumably involved with the backend of networking also interested in Bitcoin. I also see Bitcoin more as a protocol that works in the back, much like TCP/IP for instance. Keep us posted!!!

Yes, future is bright but still is long way to go.
Bitcoin will not become global currency overnight.
A lot hard work and promotion is needed...

I'm not trolling and this is not staged! the CEO works in my building and I've ran into him several times in the elevator but never had the balls to ask him about BTC.
An all hands meetings on the other hand is a perfect time to ask these types of questions. Granted I didn't ask the question during the QA session since I wasn't sure what his reaction would be.
So I just waited for the QA session  to be over and when people started walking out of the room, i just went up to him and asked.

Good on you for taking the initiative to propose Bitcoin to the higher ups.  That is something I hope pays off in the long run for both you and the company you work for.  I also completely understand not saying who you work for and associating the forum account with the company is smart IMO.

If he already knew about bitcoin then your impact was likely very small, but you rather just confirmed that he knows about bitcoin. If a lot of customers were asking about your store accepting bitcoin then it would be a different story.
