You should post maybe the top 5 or 10 items in bulk at bitmit.net so you can build feedback and provide escrow.

I'm curious how many snickers or twix is 2lbs?

I will ship first for those with rep. How many pieces you get depends on what size bar you get. The full size bars are more expensive. The fun size are smaller but you get more for your money.

I have ordered some gummy bears and sour patch kids, so once I get them I will give a review and post here about it :)
So far CANDIES has been very easy to work with

How much for the War Heads?

I'm ready to buy, these are expensive and hard to find here.

Yea, that'd be a good idea, everytime you get a shipment ready, take a picture of each item, so people can visualize how much 2 pounds is, because most people buy a candy bar or a bag or box of candy, and don't really know how much that is

Title: Re: CANDY for BITCOINS
Post by: weex on March 24, 2012, 08:20:24 PM
A twix is 2.06 oz so 2lbs should be 15 of the standard two bar size. I've ordered that and am trying for snickers dark. Going for sour patch kids as well.

Commerce!

I've just been reading down the list again, and I know what all of them are except for the Boston Baked Beans - are those real baked beans, or are they some candy that I have never heard of? NVM, just googled them.

Also, the orange slices - is that candied orange, or is it the spherical chocolate oranges?

I can get snickers dark but we are out of stock. I will keep an eye open for our next shipment. Airheads and warheads are in stock. Warheads are 1 pound for 1.5 coins. Airheads are 24 bars for 1 coin. The orange slices i mentioned are these. But i can get the chocolate ones too.

LOL omg you guys want so much candies. Here's the thing with large orders. I have to buy 5-10 pounds of something to sell you the 1 pound you want. I dont mind, just be sure you dont change your mind. I dont wanna order 50 pounds of candy and have no one to sell it to. Since you two want such large orders i would really appreciate half and half. Half now and i will place your order. When i receive your order and take pics you can send me the other half. Does that work for you guys?

Well, I understand where you are coming from, and I certainly wouldn't be changing my order except to make it bigger. ;D

But there is also the problem that you are fairly new - we usually solve this with escrow where a trusted third party holds the money until the stuff arrives. Once a few orders have been successful, then most people will just send to you first. But until then, not sure whether my guarantee to not lower the order or the offer to use escrow would appeal to you?

Title: Re: CANDY for BITCOINS

I understand your position. This is my position. I have to order 100 pounds of candy to fill your order. That will cost me a couple hundred out of my pocket. Your only at risk for a few coins. If you guys dont buy im gonna be stuck with more candy than i can eat. Having something just makes me feel better knowing your serious about buying. How about this? Instead of the second half when i receive the candy we do it when you receive the candy.

I know. I understand your position. This is my position. I have to order 100 pounds of candy to fill your order. That will cost me a couple hundred real money out of my pocket. Your only at risk for a few coins. Im really the one whos taking a huge gamble. If you guys dont buy im gonna be in the hole stuck with more candy than i can eat. Having something just makes me feel better knowing your serious about buying. How about this? Instead of the second half when i receive the candy we do it when you receive the candy. This way we both put a little faith in each other.
Well, I'm in no rush, so I can wait for others to be successful and then place my order. Still interested in a final quote in the amount though. ;)

I'm willing to act as an escrow with a public bitcoin address, if both parties trust me.

I ordered and paid upfront for 1lb of candie (only 2.5btc), but for larger orders, Ill gladly take payment on behalf of CANDIES from rjk and handle disputes if any.

I really hope CANDIES is not a scammer, because he can make a lot of money doing this

LOL if your honestly worried im going to scam for candy i think thats really funny. This isnt a big ticket item. Most of this stuff is 1 coin per pound. Most people would shoot for something with more value. If you like, i will ship first for the stuff i have in hand. I also have twix war heads swedish fish skittles and starbursts jellybeans on the way. Let me move this stuff and get some rep and then we can do big orders.

Please dont take us the wrong way! We have no ill intentions and dont think your gonna scam us  ;D

Unfortunaly, this forum goes thru 1-2 scammers a day, so our due diligence must be done.

DO NOT ship a large order to a new guy, he may try and scam you. For large orders, escrow is the way to go, this is why I offered to do it.

Wowee, I figured bulk orders might be good for a quantity discount, but so far it's quite a bit more than a local buy. Wonder if it would be better to know what sizes you have to order, so that when I place my order it will be sized so that you don't have to break up a large quantity and send part of it?

What I mean is if you have to order 10 pounds to fill my 3 pound order, maybe it would be better to make my 3 pound order into a 10 pound order. However, I'm not really sure what size is your minimum on each type.

If it's easier for you to have me pay in fiat, I suppose I could work that out too.

Title: Re: CANDY for BITCOINS
Post by: CANDIES on March 27, 2012, 11:50:18 PM
Your order isnt considered bulk until you buy 10 pounds of one type of candy. I have to order 5-10 pounds of something to sell you the one pound you want. If you want price breaks order less variety and more quantity. One pound isnt gonna get you any deals. Also, please keep in mind that i have to make money too. It costs me $30-60 per order and im only getting 1 coin in return for most orders. Im going in debt to bring you your candy. If i dont sell it all i lose. I also have to hope trading my real money for coins pays off. Im not sure what you were expecting price wise but i think 1 coin per pound is fair.

I hate to break it to you rjk but your order is NOT considered ordering in bulk. Again, i have to order 5-10 pounds of something to sell you ONE pound. Try ordering less variety and more quantity. One pound isnt gonna get you any deals. Please keep in mind that i have to make money too. It costs me $30-60 per order and im only getting one coin in return. Im going in debt to bring you your candy. I have to hope that im able to sell it all and recover my money. I also have to pull money out of my pocket to ship to you. And hope trading my real money for coins pays off. Im not sure what you were expecting price wise but i think 1 coin per pound is more than fair.
OK cool! I agree, the amounts I initially specified are fair at the prices you said. I was trying to figure out what quantity "bulk" was, and it sounds like upwards of 10 pounds is the number. Now that I have a better idea of it,  I shall be reviewing my order and increasing it in view of making it so you don't have a whole bunch of leftover candy from my order. It might take mew a few days to get more coin together, and once I have it I'll be revising my order upwards in amounts that will hopefully be nice even quantities. For the stuff that I don't want much of (1 pound or so), I'll just strike that off the order.

Since I will be making the order larger, I would be glad to send half first, but it will take me a few days to get it together.

Title: Re: CANDY for BITCOINS
Post by: CANDIES on March 28, 2012, 12:24:19 AM
Im glad we have an understanding. Bulk prices dont kick in until you order 5-10 pounds. If you want 1 pound or 1 bag of something i already have laying around thats NP. But 1 pound for something i have to order doesnt really work. If you want special orders please order at least 2 pounds.

I would appreciate doing half and half. You have high posts so i wouldnt mind shipping first for a few pounds. But i have to get some kind of commitment from the people requesting large amounts of candy from me.

Compare my price to retail. You would have to buy 7 of those to get a pound. At $2 a pack plus tax it would cost $15 for 1 pound.

I agree, trying to figure out the real value is tricky. Its easy to think i can get a snickers bar for $0.75 why would i give you 1 or 2 coins? And you would be right, you can get a snickers from the store for less than $1. But when you crunch the numbers and figure out your cost by weight i will almost always have the better price cause i order in bulk. Even if my price was the same it would still be better to buy from me cause your paying with currency that wont cost you anything out of pocket. Its like your getting something for nothing.

I don't see how this is a good deal...

Take reeses, for instance.  At walmart, I can get a 2.5 lb bag for $9 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Reese-Peanut-Butter-Cup-Miniatures-2lb-8-oz/10449925).  That's $3.60/lb.  Your price is 1 coin per lb, which is $4.80/lb.

Am I missing something here?  Are reeses just a particularly bad example?

Walmart is a massive company. They are hard to compete with sometimes. My price should be better than most retailers but i cant beat everybody. Even if i cant beat that price i still have alot of things going on that make me a better deal than walmart. Number one reason is walmart doesnt accept coins. You have to spend money in your pocket. You work 40 hours a week for that money. Bitcoins are generated daily for nothing. Which would you rather spend on your candy fix? Walmart charges tax. They dont have the selection that i do. They wont cut you a break when you buy a few pounds. They wont give returning customers free samples. Im sure if i think about this long enough i will come up with enough reasons why you should buy from me even if my price is $1 more.

Walmart is a huge multi billion dollar company. Im small time. They are hard to compete with for certain items. My price should be better than most retailers but im not going to be able to beat everybody all the time. Even if i cant beat walmart for reeses i still have a few things in my favor. Walmart doesnt accept coins. Walmart charges tax. Walmart doesnt have the selection that i do. Walmart doesnt sell by the pound. Walmart wont cut you a break when you buy a few pounds. Walmart wont give returning customers free samples. Walmart isnt supporting the bitcoin community. Im sure if i think about this long enough i will come up with more reasons why you should buy from me instead of walmart.
All good and valid reasons indeed.  ;)  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something in particular.  People were making this out to be the deal of the century, but then the first item I calculated was significantly higher than a retail store.  Just wasn't expecting it, that's all.  Also, no sales tax in Oregon (I've already been taxed through my income), so no value gained there!

I know i will get some criticism now and then. I understand your point of view. Why buy from me if somebody else has a better price? Its a good argument. I may not always have the best price for every candy against every other retailer. But if you consider everything else i think im offering a good deal. Its really convenient to shoot me a coin or 2 and have candy show up at your door. Who wouldnt like that?

Check out this giant gummy bear i can get you.

I understand. I know i will get some constructive criticism now and then. If you focus on the price of 1 item i understand your point of view. If you can do better somewhere else why buy from me? Its a good argument. But if you consider everything im offering and you actually try my service im confident i will convince you this is a good deal. Walmart wont take care of you and interact with you the way i will. You cant PM walmart and say hey i want 1 pound a lemon heads 2 pounds runts 10 pounds of snickers and a case of air heads. They wont make that happen for you. I will. And if all my counter arguments isnt enough to convince you to buy your candy from me exclusively check out this giant gummy bear i can get you. I think having this in my inventory makes me the undisputed king of candy.     ;D

http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1897/8760869.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/708/8760869.jpg/)

Uhm, ok, how much??  :D

I can't argue with the selection argument - most of the stuff at wally world isn't sold in those huge 2.5 lb bags, thus less bonus for buying in bulk!

My selection will grow too. What i have listed is only whats been requested since ive been here. I can get alot more than whats advertised.

Im not sure how much for that killer gummy. I stumbled across it while browsing our inventory. I didnt look in to the price. I will find out.

Also, my price isnt set in stone. Price will vary depending on availability. If we get a big shipment of something the price will go down.

Yankee, you can have whatever you want. Just let me know.

Those giant ones like above costs about $30 and it's 5 pounds.

Title: Re: CANDY for your BITCOINS

I cant exactly give you a quote when you ask for a huge box of candy for low price. You need to be more specific. I need to know what you want and how much you want. I just did a package for Yankee that included a little bit of everything i have in stock. Maybe we can do something like that? To get the lowest price you have to buy bulk. Meaning 5-10 pounds of one candy. There is no way around this. If you dont want that much and you just want candy for low cost look at my list. Everything thats marked for 1 coin or less is the most bang for your buck.

I will find out abut peanut M&M's.

What would be really cool is listing where the quantity breaks are. For instance, schedule A is under xx pounds, and goes for xx per pound, schedule B is between xx and yy pounds and goes for yy per pound, and so forth.

If you want to make a business of it, a website would be even more awesome.

Title: Re: CANDY for your BITCOINS

I cant. Our inventory changes daily. Some days we have 14 ounce bags. Sometimes 52 ounce bags. It depends on whats available.

I might consider a site but i think that would be jumping the gun a bit. Ive only made a few sales. Lets see if i can move this candy im sitting on first. If things go well i would probably get one.

Lolwut, i just looked over your list and realized you want a half pound of alot of stuff. One pound is the minimum for stuff i have in stock. If you want me to special order something i would appreciate it if you order at least 2 pounds. 25 different candies for mostly a half pound is over doing it. Thats easily 200 pounds of candy i would have to order. Order less variety and more quantity. Variety wont get you any prices breaks.

Also, since i have people requesting larger orders let me explain how price breaks work. There is no price breaks for orders of 1-5 pounds. Even if you order 20 different kinds of candy. If your only buying 2 pounds you wont get a break from the company. If you buy 10 pounds of one candy you will get a small break off each larger order. Your tootsie rolls cost 23 coins so i round you down to 20. Your gummy bears cost 15 coins i charge you 13. Even at 10 pounds thats the lower end of whats considered bulk. The very best prices dont kick in until 20-35 pounds. To get those prices you have to buy a whole case and leave me with no left over.

Of course, now that it is here, it isn't lasting as long as I had hoped, but that is completely my fault.

I just got the second half of my order. Thanks CANDIES!

https://i.imgur.com/Oit1zl.jpg (https://i.imgur.com/Oit1z.jpg)

Just a few quick things:

Can you get regular (not dark) chocolate oranges? I like dark, but some friends and family don't.
Some of the items (Tootsie rolls, Skittles) were opened and some of the stuff removed in order to get the weight right. This is fine, but I would suggest that you stop selling by weight and start selling by standard quantities such as per bag/box/container/etc.

Thanks again!

Rjk, i sell both by weight and by package. It depends how i receive the candy. Most packages i get are over sized and contain more candy than the customer wants. Opening the package to get the right weight is something i must do for most items. If you prefer i not open a package i will let you know the amount you have to buy to avoid me doing so. I can get you milk chocolate oranges next time around.

Mushroomized, there is nothing illegal about selling kinder eggs. All taxes are paid when they are imported. You have a PM.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinder_Surprise
"While Kinder eggs have been available in Canada since 1975, the product has never been allowed into the US for several reasons. In 1993 the Ferrero Group (the maker of Kinder eggs) applied to have the eggs sold in the USA, but was turned down because of a prohibition against having an inedible item inside an edible object. (Products like Cracker Jack that contain inedible toys in the same package are not subject to the ban because the toy is in the box, not in the food.)[citation needed] More recently, the US Consumer Products Safety Commission determined in 2008 that the product did not meet the small-parts requirement for toys for children under the age of three, creating a choking and asphyxiation hazard in young children. From 1991 to 1998, at least 4 children around the world have died of choking after swallowing the toy inside the Kinder egg."
I know it's illegal to sell them IN the us, but I'm not sure about importing.

Lets start with the packaging. Please look at the pic of orange slices that i posted. Thats 30 pounds of orange slices in two 15 pound bags. You only wanted 1 pound. You do not have the option of an unopened package unless you buy a 15 pound bag. I have to put your orange slices in something. The bags i used are food grade bags from the grocery store. I used them cause i dont have anything else. I also get them for free. It seemed like a good idea instead of spending money on bags. However after using them a few times i will admit i can do better with the packaging. Ziplock bags seem appropriate. Only problem is they cost money. That cost gets past on to you. And then people cry the price is high. If you guys want ziplock bags i will get them just be aware of the cost factor.

About the price. Sometimes my price will be lower than retail. Sometimes it will be higher. Dont beat me up about it. Im not getting rich off you. I sell most of my candy for 1 coin of less. I think my prices are fair. I can see being upset if my price was outrageously higher but some of you guys are complaining about $1-2 difference. I know everybody wants a good deal but i cant beat everybody when competing against all of the internet. I may not always have the best price but i will have a fresh product delivered to your door for a reasonable price.

About shipping. I know paying shipping sucks. What do you want me to do about it? Whether its candy or compacter parts if you want goods delivered you have to pay. I have to pay shipping twice. Once to get the candy to me and again to get the candy to you. Thats money out of my pocket not coins. So trust me i know how it feels. One coin ship for 3 boxes of mike and ike would not make sense. But you didnt get just mike and ike you also got orange slices, air heads, M&M's, jelly beans, and sour patch kids. Your box was packed real nice with lots of yummy stuff. One coin to ship all that is reasonable. Its not like i made that money off you that went to shipping.

About getting this stuff from a candy factory. I think you guys are expecting something greater than what i can provide because i get this from a factory. I know its awesome getting your candy right from the factory but its not a wholesale store. Its a retail store. They sell for full retail price. Most people who PM me are expecting bulk prices for 1-2 pound orders. It doesnt work like that. You guys are the end consumer. You guys dont get my prices. That bulk discount is where i make my money. Im not a large retailer who can provide huge discounts. Im one guy who is buying in bulk and trying to make money by piecing it out. Im not in a position to give you discounted prices for 1 coin orders.

In my case, if I would have known that (for example) the tootsie rolls came in sealed 6 pound boxes, I would have ordered 12 pounds instead of 10, so that I would get 2 sealed boxes. But I had no idea what the standard measurement or weight was.

The best thing to do would be to outline the standard sealed sizes that are available to you, so that people know what to expect when the order in a lesser amount. Each item in the OP could have a note saying whether the standard size is a bag, a box, per each, etc., and the weight of each unit size. That would be the best way to handle it.

He placed his order before we discussed unopened packages. From now on i will be sure to let you guys know if the candy will be sold loose.

I know it would be nice if i could put the size of the packages in my OP but i cant. For example, somebody asks me for starbursts. I check our inventory and the best deal is for 18oz bags. So i add starbursts in my OP with 18oz next to it. Its now 3 weeks later and somebody wants starbursts. I check our inventory and the best deal on that day is for an 8oz box. I cant list a set weight or price per package cause both of those factors change every few days.

OK I wasn't aware that they changed like that, that's kind of hard to work with.

On another note, how about the starburst jellybeans in the "FaveRed" flavor? It is the usual jellybeans, but only the red and pink ones. ;D Also, some milk chocolate oranges, omnomnom. How much for a couple bags of FaveReds and some oranges?

BitcoinMint, no hard feelings. You are entitled to your opinion. I agree with you about the packaging for loose candy being cheap. Something like that can be improved. I will definitely look in to ziplock bags. If you have any suggestions for me i would like to hear them. But to flat out say you dont recommend me is a little harsh. You bring up a good point. We did not discuss the amount of candy you will receive. You told me what you want. I told you a price. And that was that. From now on i will tell you guys how many packages you will receive and what the weight will be.

RJK, the way things work with our inventory is very difficult for me to work with. It would be much easier if there was a set price and weight for each candy but unfortunately there is not. Each brand distributes their candy in various ways with different size packages. Sometimes the average size packages are the best deal sometimes the over sized packages is the best deal. It really depends on whats in stock. I will find out about the FaveRed jellybeans.

Peanut M&M 1.3 coins for 1 pound.
Mini kinder eggs 2 coins for one 85 gram bag. There are around 20 eggs in a bag.
The kinder surprise eggs are the same price. You get more candy with the mini eggs. The surprise comes with a toy.

The quote i always give people is for the best price per weight. For M&M peanut the best deal is for a 56 ounce bag. Just like the one shown in my OP. If you want me to get you a box with standard size packages i can do that. But you will pay more for the packaging and get less candy. Do you still want me to get you a quote for a box?

Lolwut, everything shown in my OP is in stock.

Goat, i have not yet found better bags. Its hard to beat free so i have been been doubling the bags im currently using. Why do you ask? You have never ordered from me.

Also, i am back. Due to family issues i dont know how long i will be around. Could be a few months. Could be a few years. I will be accepting new orders for as long as i can. When i need to retire i will hand the business over to my nephew or my sister.

Thank you to all those who supported me. Its been a blast serving you guys.    ;D

I never ordered from you directly. I was giving bitcoin away to friends, family and having them go order candy from you. Once I found out you shipped lose candy like M and Ms not factory sealed I stopped doing that. Not the positive first bitcoin experience I was trying to have them get. They were just trashing the unsealed stuff.

I have had packaging fails myself. My honey fail is well known. Just wanted to know if it got resolved. Once you figure stuff out I might start sending out BTC again.

Thanks.

Have you ever been to a candy store? It's all loose.

Goat, im sorry your friends weren't happy with the packaging. You cant please everybody. I totally understand having fancy packaging if i was a retail store. But this is not the case. Im one guy selling candy on the bitcoin forum. For me, the packaging is fine. Im not very fussy. As long as i get what i want im happy.

Lolwut, i can get pretzels.

Also, please help me move my inventory. Especially runts and orange slices. I have over 20 pounds each. Thanks guys.
