Ok, also this^^^.  However, I'm just saying that all the hype threads are a little silly.  There are bull hypers and there are bear hypers.  In order to do any serious thinking you have ignore all the hypers.

Yeah and the worst hypers are the extrapolators. 

Oh bitcoin dived 5% in 24 hours? 20 days more and bitcoin is worthless!!!! Get out now!

We got 100% in a month, in 10 more months we are at 10,000 USD!!!! TO THE MOON

I'm just a bit pessismistic, looking back at Dell's Bitcoin adoption, it doesn't affect the price too much.

And in the big picture of things, Dell is such a big thing?

Yep, same as at 140, 130, 120, 110, 100, 90, 80, 70, .... last year.

Thing is, if you believe in this long term (and you're not already in), you should buy and then forget a out the price. yes, its a risk, but the upside of mainstream adoption far outweights the loss of initial investment.

as i said, main thing you should be 'betting' on overall is faith in the groundbreaking technology.

You have to get in if you already not, price is low and it will go only up in longterm.

Meh. Works for some people, not everyone. I believe in BTC long term and I've been through two bubbles now. I can afford to keep coins tucked in cold storage because I took a few X my initial investment out long ago. But I can't help but hedge by trading. And I can certainly understand waiting for reversal before buying in, even if it means missing the bottom. Never was one for bottom fishing myself.

Everyone though the impact of DELL adoption of BTC would see a immediate huge rise in the price of BTC

When a company adopt BTC as a payment method, we will see a small increase in BTC price, because some people, who already own BTC would start to buy new things on offer, and some early adopter would experiment with it. {The price might even drop, due to a over supply of BTC becoming availlable and no new people wanting to buy them.

Dell still have other payment methods {fiat / credit cards / debit cards etc.} So for mass adoption, these companies have to introduce an incentive, for them to switch to this new "technology" and this must be done, by the merchants, in the form of  "discounts" being offered, for people who use BTC [ Problem is, these companies do not offer this, because it would mean, they would have to cut their profit ]

So what happens now.... Dell accept BTC - People still use other payment methods - BTC owners spend their coins - Dell convert it to fiat on exchanges - No extra people demand these coins - Over supply created of BTC - Price of BTC goes down.

 

It may have not affected the price on the short run but this is only because of traders not reacting to the news. The "read" affect this will have on the market will take much longer to realize and will be from a much larger portion of the market then the day trading speculators.

People were saying this when BTC went form $30 to $2...

Don't get left out...train's leavin...

Give me one more reason why it will go up, and I will buy a couple coins.
