It dropped... it is not a fixed price you know.

Probably just some big players manipulating the price. :P

Just like with any stock or market. Some big selling and people have mini panics and sell then more get worried and sell and the next thing you know its $510 people will start buying back in. I am making sure the prices stay stable before buying more just in case it drops into the $400's

It's part of the normal BTC price cycle.... some whale is cashing out :P

It's the final capitulation but in few weeks we will see the first true rise which will lead to the new bubble.

It is really good time to buy.

Nobody can tell you what happened to the price. It's just one of those things unfortunately with Bitcoin. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we get some big news and the price will shoot back up. Just a little patience is needed.

Now is the perfect time to buy if you've been looking to get in. Always try grab coins on a low quickly. I don't think it'll go any lower than this and will probably rise again soon enough.

Maybe btc can crash again and reach $400 but in my opinion the next months will be very bullish.

Everyone is panic selling.... thats why the price drop so much....

Yesterday it was sometime at 585.

Big players sell some, small fish panics and sells out all...price drops and smart people buy low again...every time same thing happens

Now watch the price go back to $650 in 7-10 days time

The volatility is still considerably better than a few months ago, where it dropped a few hundreds of dollars in a few days, in this happened more than once after December.

I wouldn't worry about this kind of short term up and down. We have seen bitcoin crashing down significantly from time and time. :)

I still remember and cringe about when it fell from 1000$ to about 500$ in two days. Bad times :D

There don't appear to be any fundamental reasons for the price drop, in terms of adoption or threats to the network etc.  The hashrate just keeps going up exponentially, more and more business are accepting it.  So panic selling, and more weak hands giving up seems to be the explanation.  It's the perfect time to buy for all those reasons!

The present is always the best time to buy bitcoins because in the big picture, bitcoin's value will raise over time because the reward is cut in half every 4 years so it will more rare and the demand will still raise. I think it is wise to get a few bitcoins and hold them to pass on to your kids (like a coin collection) and they will benefit from them when they are worth $5,000 each.  ;D

It rises and falls everyday lol.

But overall longer term its rising obviously.

yeah I been hearing this for weeks already even from the speculators say this is healthy for drop like this, then soon we will see 5 times the increase again.  Its just matter of time, not when.

Maybe it's the fact that you can actually use your Bitcoins at more places (Dell, ...) that pushes the price down. People that used to just sit on many coin are now using them, making them available on the market.

Don't buy bitcoin if you do not have a stomach for it.

@topic: some say market manipulation, others say that it is coming from China, others it is just a panic sell that triggered the market, while some says bitcoin was a bubble since its inception.

But if you have some USD on an exchange, it is not a bad idea to make some a buy order at $400.
You may be able to get yourself some cheap coins while sleeping. :)

499$ now, if it goes to $400. You could make 0.2 BTC that way, but it's still gambling.. you may also lose 0.2  :)

Nothing to worry about, if anthing it's a good time to buy more btc before the price rises in a week or so.

Reading the speculation forum will probably just gives you more crazy theories and wild price predictions, instead of solving your problem lol. :P

I myself think that the drop is caused by BitLicence, but no body seems to agree with that so lets stick with panic selling :)

It's just growing pains.

Panic selling seems to be the only reason here, no big news against bitcoin or any incident have happened lately. So, that might be it.

Price recovered from about 485 to 510 today, hope It will come back to $600 in some time.

Use the market to your advantage, don't let the market use you is the best advice I can give. If you don't trade just sit tight and give it some time. The Bitcoin market moves fast, very fast.

Don't be confused, dude. It's just how the market moves. The bitcoin economy is a roller coaster ride, as I always say. There are times that the price is up, and there are times that the price is down. There are also these so called whales that manipulates the price according to what they want it to be. Because they have large amounts of bitcoins (and $$), they can move the price to whatever they want.

Nothing happened, just some normal market fluctuations.
The price is under some pressure in the short term, but it is still very bright for medium to long term IMHO.

Im pretty sure that BTC price will go up for new ATH. Early 2015 is my bet.

More money is pouring into Bitcoin each month.

You mean they dumped some of their bitcoins collected from IPO?
From what I heard, they haven't dumped any more since Aug 15.

Many people expected moon by July/Aug, it didn't come, so sell off.

this is my guess too.  he has nothing to lose and lots of $ to gain
