I also liked the borderlands series for co-op first person shooter. It's alot of fun and you can pick between different classes and level up your character. There are side quests and main story line quests and tons of guns to upgrade as you play.

You're looking for a co-op pointless shooting or and adventure, rpg? I'd recomend Obscure 2, or download Crash Bash for PSX. I love split-screen games, but sadly, there are almost none on the pc. You can play coop with it, try to search brutal doom / zdoom / doom legacy and have fun with the hundreds of coop maps created during those 20+ years.
