Title: Transform your Government Money into Strong Bitcoin Marketing Objects.
Post by: Geenstijl on August 18, 2014, 12:15:00 PM
Hey guys,

Check out this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=744357.msg8413890#msg8413890 .

the idea is to stick durable stickers on the backside of ordinairy coins to promote bitcoin! It's a crowdfund project in need of as much support as possible.

Another idea, if you're a cheap bastard and can't afford to back my project. Just write on your paper bills a small Bitcoin Symbol or some bitcoin related message (the utter margins of the bill are excellent space). That way we let the Bills do the same job.

STICK AND ROLL, BABY!

Look Example of the Cheap Bastard-method!

From United States Code: Title 18 Part 1 Chapter 17, Section 333:

Mutilation of national bank obligations: Whoever mutilates, cuts, defaces, disfigures, or perforates, or unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of any debt issued by any national banking association, or Federal Reserve Bank, or the Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt unfit to be reissued, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

There is some online discussion about it. But it should be legal.

Stickers on coins are legal fo'show.

Interesting concept.  I like your idea.

From my perspective, however, simply raising awareness of Bitcoin is insufficient.  A lot of people know about Bitcoin, but do not investigate it further.  Time/money would be better spend on helping people get started with Bitcoin.

Not sure if it is legal in Europe.
We would need country-specific legal opinion for this.  :)

Most people here are broke and if they have extra fiat they will probly use it to buy BTC and not paint over them dollars  :P

Haha, yeah i think your right. It's the tragedy of the commons. Everyone wants to gain, without having to contribute. All Freeriders :)

I love how on this forum people actually get basic economics. Outside this forum mentioning the tragedy of the commons, game theory or dead weight loss from taxation and price controls will get blank stares or worse.

Writing on bills is a little bit of a grey area, but hey so is Bitcoin ;)

It is guaranteed legal to put stickers on coins.

Its not allowed. Few notes are fine but you will end up in trouble messing with currency notes.
