Title: SEARS considering altcoins as a loyalty program for shoppers
Post by: marine4u on August 18, 2014, 04:04:43 PM

There is still hope for some altcoins, this is a promising message that I received from an upper management of a major corporation.

Too bad it looks more like a last desperate grab for attention from this dying brand in its death throes rather than a boon for coins.

Well said, as the developer of Marinecoin I have no intention to make MTC some website's shopping reward program, I am openly sharing this info as news.

Regards,

Paying credit card rewards in XBT make a lot of sense and can also be very cost effective for the card issuer. There is also a market for this. I have a 1% cash back credit card and have for the last 3 years made the point of purchasing XBT with the credit card reward money. If a credit card issuer were to pay directly in XBT deposited directly into my XBT wallet. I would have a great incentive to switch just for the convenience of not having to 1) Cash the cheque from the credit card company, 2) Deposit the funds into an exchange, 3) Purchase the XBT, and 4) withdraw XBT to my XBT wallet.

By the way I do have a SEARS Mastercard but I hardly ever use it.

Edit: I would also accept payment in XMR but I doubt I would at this point accept another alt-coin.

People still have Sears? Not in my state.

They would never adopt any other coin other than Searscoin.

So it's a Hail Mary pass, I take it.

Still, it's interesting. If you're Canadian, you can't help but know of "Canadian Tire Money (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Tire_money)." I've been thinking of Canadian Tire "Money" as a specialized cryptocurrency long before its time...

They wouldn't; it appears as if they are asking for some consultation. I would provide it to them, why not.

I would think that if Sears or any major retailer wanted a rewards coin they would simply make their own. To be used exclusively in their own store. It will never be LTC or BTC.

Why would Sears want their clients shopping and spending their rewards at another store. The idea behind it is to get the customers to come back and buy more crap.

Canadian Tire money for instance.

I call BS on this post.

At the current rate people invest in crypto for profit, what Marinecoin created on bidcoind.com is a testament of the retail side of crypto, which is a complete joke,
However Marinecoin will continue to remain strong on the merchant side, more quality items will be offered for sale in exchange for MTC.

I have had many consultations over the past year many ended with the party asking for free coins, we don't handout free MTC, we respect the miners,

Miners of Marinecoin always come first,
