Title: BTC-e Flash-Crash Brings Bitcoin Price under $400
Post by: knickerbacher on August 18, 2014, 09:40:23 PM
The Bitcoin price opened this morning at $485 on BTC-e. The $480s-$490s price range had become the norm in the last few days, leveling out after a steady decline over the last week and a flash-crash on Bitfinex just a few days ago. The price remained steady during the early morning hours, not falling below $480. Then, at 4 AM, the price took a slight dip to $473, and was at $465 by 7 AM. At 7, however, the flash-crash occurred and the price fell down into the $300s. The market began trying to recover in the next hour, going back up to $452 and flattening out in the $440s-$450s. After the flash-crash ended, Bitstamp went back up to $473 and Bitfinex returned to $467. The Bitcoin price has yet to return to the $480s-$490s range, however.

Mister 102: the mission.

And btc-e still behind almost $30, compared to Bitstamp.

Seems Btc-e has some panic-prone whales that make some mistakes in crisis times.

Agreed, it looks like the margin trading is taking its toll more heavily on BTC-e
