This must be because you're from the newer generation.Back in '13 it was quite popular if you ask me and there was a lot of going on about it. Due to the high quantity of coin releases FTC was kinda abandoned/forgotten. Sadly I do not think that the future is bright for FTC. Feathercoin was popular because of the enthusiastic community lead by the incredible well spoken Chris Ellis. Without the community feathercoin is just a useless clone. The only thing keeping it alive now is btc-e. Feathercoin was the first alt coin i discovered and what drew me to the alt coin scene. But i would not touch it now. Make of that what you will. Actually, both feathercoin and litecoin belong to the same category known as scrypt coin. And all of them are going to go away soon. So litecoin can stay where it is if it want's. It does own scrypt you could say.

Your right about the importance of community and that's always been feathercoins focus. There are a great bunch of people in that community. Doing some really amazing work. How many coins can say one of their developers created a new hashing algorithm? Feathercoin just did this. And don't be worried about move to NeoScrypt without a GPU miner. One is already in development and they won't switch until its ready. This is an experienced community who value their coin and are not going to rush things. Go and have a look at the forum.
