Title: [2014-08-23] Coinsecure Donates 5 BTC & takes on the ALSA #IceBucketChallenge
Post by: Benson Samuel on August 23, 2014, 07:11:19 PM
Technology has come a long way bringing us into the new era of decentralization and Bitcoin. To celebrate this cause, the Coinsecure team decided to challenge our CEO Mohit Kalra to the Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis Association (ALSA) Ice Bucket Challenge.

Amidst the casual setting of a getaway in Bangalore where our team had gathered, we managed to get a few ice buckets and got Mohit ready for it. Calling out to Jeff Garzik, Tony Gallippi and Rojer Ver, Mohit finally got in place nervously, ready for the worst.

What started as a casual need to get a challenge in place changed quite quickly as Mohit explained his encounter with the freezing water. A sudden freezing sensation, followed by numbness around his neck and chest area for a while, got him to understand a part of what ALS patients go through.

Coinsecure will also be donating 5 BTC towards ALS. In order to initiate this, we went the extra mile to discuss with ALS and introduce them to Bitcoin as they did not have it as a Payment option. We were pleasantly surpised to hear that they were ready to accept Bitcoin and even gave us a method to get the coins across to them.

We continue to grow, mature and build up as a team, and we continue to implement quick and easy paths to enable Bitcoin's ascent in a better way for India.

Apologies for that bad landing page on coinsecure.in. Working on getting a visible signup box in place.
Our launch page does have a sign up box, but has been done quite badly in terms of responsiveness, hence it may not display on all screens.
We are working on it and will be doing a new landing page quite soon.

And thanks :)

Drought hit India needs Rice bucket instead of Ice bucket. If you spend/donate 0.01 BTC ,you will get 1 bucket of Rice ,which helps one BPL family to survive a week.

Dear enthusiats , participate Rice bucket challenge and spend/donate 0.01 BTC.

I am sure if one would have let coinsecure team know about it they would have done the same for Rice bucket challenge too.
In any case, good initiative and I will take the challenge.

We will take rice bucket and will distribute it to people in need. I pledge 1 BTC worth of help.

Regards

This initiative seems to have been launched on the 23rd. Hardly any way for us to have known about it.

Am good with doing this as well. We pledge a full meal for all the women at Vision India. http://www.vision-india.net.in

Edit: We are doing a bit more over here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=755685.new#new
