Title: Cuda miner or opencl miner? Post by: ruszip on April 04, 2012, 07:23:02 PM ok, so i really did look before i posted this questions. the answer may be there and i missed it in the hundreds of pages. i have a few questions, i know that ati is better for mining, but im using what i got, 2x 560ti 448 core cards in sli, should i run opencl miner or cuda miner? I'm using guiminer as of right now. and im running 2 tabs on that guiminer, one tab/instance for each gpu, i couldn't find a way to run a single tab/instance and use both gpu's at the same time. i was trying cuda miner it was running the gpu at around 60%ish and getting 70Mhash/s. With opencl. I'm getting 130 Mhash/s with the 560ti overclocked to 850MHz on each of the gpu's. And last, is there a way to run a single instance/tab to use both gpu's?

I think mtrlt's reaper is capable of doing multiple GPUs in only 1 shell/terminal window. Title: Re: Cuda miner or opencl miner? Post by: vel0city on April 05, 2012, 02:54:59 AM Cgminer works on several cards at once. Its a bit more difficult to set up at first, but otherwise its a good miner.
As to CUDA or not, I'm honestly not sure. I'm pretty CUDA isn't the way to go, as I think OpenCL is better at integer arithmetic. But, its not too hard to try out several miners and figure out on your own. Title: Re: Cuda miner or opencl miner? Post by: juggalodarkclow on April 05, 2012, 05:57:49 PM If you're using GUIminer then you'll have a tab for each miner, if you enable summary view then you can view multiple miners under one tab.
I'm sure you're already aware but NVIDIA cards are pretty much useless for mining. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison I prefer CGMiner as it gives you more control over your cards than GUIminer, just a little more to figure out. |
