Title: Want to invest / lend 80BTC to the right cause.
Post by: frisco2 on April 05, 2012, 10:50:14 PM
Will lend to someone who does not deal with any religious, socialist, or altruistic organization.
Only will lend to atheists and pro free market capitalism. Please describe how you plan to use the loan. You will have to return at interest.

I plan to buy fancy cheeses made by capitalist atheists. I will not buy from Christians. I will follow this dogma without question. I will follow this dogma without question. I will follow this dogma without question.

ETA: I will use this money to buy all the cheese produced by Atheist Capitalists who accept BTC, creating a shortage. Then, I will resell the cheeses which I don't eat @ 4x the cost. This is my business plan.

I dont know about you but when I find my self with excess cheese, I tend to go on a cheese bender. Would significantly cut into potential profits.

Who cares about religion? Why be racist(religion-ist?)?
Surely it doesn't matter provided they have a good buisness plan and you will profit.

If you read his other posts, he seems to have an almost irrational fear of anything pertaining to religion, harmful or not. I wouldn't bother trying to argue about it.

Contradiction?

Meh... Your money.

You know I see where you are going here, but to me you could substitute religious/black, socialist/capitalist, altruistic/Banks.

I'm pro free market capitalism, so I would have to set up several loan threads, Black Only Loans, White Only Loans, Atheists Only Loans, Christian Loans, Jewish Loans, etc... etc... to capitalize on the Market.

OR I could just say: A Loan is available and save a lot of typing.

Even the IBB loans to christians. (I think)

He never actually asked me about any religious or other affiliations. I just appreciated the loan and moved forward.

Just curious, what is his problem with altruism? I get everything else... but... altruism? really?

I don't care if an individual as of certain religion or views, as long as I don't have to take part in it. If I lend money to someone, I don't want them to *work for a purpose* for which I am against.

Why altruism is bad:

What if someone were to seek a loan to help grow their Buddhist worker-owned cooperative that voluntarily refuses to buy products created by businesses which lobby for protectionist regulation? That's pretty close to being socialist, capitalist, altruistic, pro-free market, religious and atheist at the same time.

The villain here is not the business, it is the government that gives the lobbyist a special privilege. The government should refuse all lobbyist, then the situation would never occur. I wouldn't sponsor this Buddhist coop you describe. Refusing to do something is not work. I am only interested to support creative work, not refusal to do whatever. But I would pay an Indian outsourcing company for computer services, even if its members are religious in whatever ways.

I think you misunderstood me. The coop can do whatever, it doesn't matter. It just refuses to deal with lobbyists as a business policy in the course of its actions.

> The villain here is not the business

It's not about who's the villain. It's about the fact that refusing to do business with such people is a pro-free market activity, much like teaching people not to go outside alone in a crime-ridden district in the middle of the night is an anti-crime activity even though it doesn't directly harm a single criminal.

Wow, never thought I would be arguing over what was essentially a joke  :)
