Are you sure the state allow you to operate an ATM without license? Or have you gotten a license and registered as MSB with Fincen?

If you achieve this it will go a long way in building the confidence and acceptance of bitcoin.

I spoke to the owner of one of the best ATM companies, and he says there's no regulations as of yet. He suggested registering as an MSB and with Fincen, but says it's only $300-400.

I already know I can do this in my state, so that's not an issue.

If all the legalities have been worked out its a welcomed move towards the development and enlightenment of BTC.

From what I can tell there's about a dozen different companies, prices ranging from less than $1,000 to $50,000. I want the ATM which is the easiest for the user, and I'm hoping some people here who have used Bitcoin ATMs can give me their opinion.

I've been looking to do the same soon. So I'll be following this thread :)

There are less than 200 atms and competition is among the best ones? Just wow.

What difference it offers?

I'm going to be opening a Bitcoin ATM in my state (the first one in the entire state!), and I'm researching what the best Bitcoin ATM is.

So what do you guys think is the best Bitcoin ATM, as far as usability goes? I want something that's fast, efficient, and very easy to understand.
What state do you happen to be from (come on Oklahoma!)?

There are only two states which don't required you to have money transmitter license to be one.

Your options are robocoin, lamasuu and skyhook, afaik

Skyhook seems to be cheapest and robocoin seems like the best

That thread you linked to is discussing the cost of becoming a money transmitter in those states. Very few states have actually released statements regarding cryptocurrencies.

I would pay close attention to the MSB regulations. When I looked into it the need to be a money transmitter was a deal breaker. I'm not sure about your state, but in some places it is ridiculously expensive. Basically it is set up to keep small players out of the market.

You will also have to keep immaculate records of who bought what at what time. Knowing the identity of your customers (KYC) and proving you have anti-money laundering (AML) systems in place is likely going to be how you spend your time.

But hey, somebody is going to do it. And if I had an ATM near me, I would use it.

Cheers and best of luck!

Best ATM is one that you can deposit cash for bitcoins and get cash for bitcoins.

Some are like vending machines where you can only do one or the other.

AFAIK that isn't Robocoin who is forcing it but them including it as an optional feature.  I've used Robocoin several times and never had to insert my palm or government ID, mind you it's possible they took a screenshot of my face or a finger print when I was using the touch screen.

Owners might be using it due to local laws or just using it because they want to inconvenience people.

I use BitAccess and though wile at times the are a bit slow to get things done, they have managed to do most things right and are a pleasure to work with. I have no personal experience with the others so I don't really have much to say about them, but BA always has worked for me.

If you're interested in an ATM in the US, I'm interested in splitting ATMs with people and have a partner with a MTL for most states. Feel free to PM me if you have a good location.

For now crypto ATM is just more than curious machine of wonders for random people than real working ATM. You will be better buying your bitcoin in standard online exchange. For in a couple of years, who know. Then it will probably the best option to buy cryptocurrencies.
