Banking Survey: 65% of US Consumers ‘Unlikely’ to Buy Bitcoin

The survey data shows that while a slim majority of respondents (51%) have heard of digital currency, 65% stated that they are “unlikely” to ever buy or use a technology like bitcoin.

Eighteen percent of participants indicated that they were “likely” or “very likely” to use a digital currency, and only 3% of those who had heard of bitcoin said they had actually bought some.

More testament to the fact that anyone who thinks we aren't still early adopters is wrong, heh.  The figures will probably change soon enough, though.  It takes time for change to occur at the best of times and this is a pretty radical change we're aiming for.  The longer Bitcoin continues without imploding, like the outside world still seem to think it will, the weaker their position becomes and the more they'll start to realise that Bitcoin is here to stay.

The headline says it all in my opinion. Talks of everybody soon abandoning fiat in favor of bitcoin are premature in my opinion.

Percent of people in the US polled who did not have a credit card   23 %

Percent of undergraduate students with a credit card   76 %

Percent of MIT students who received satoshis during the Bitcoin Project...

priceless.

1,000 people? Oh boy, here we go, they're fabricating poll sampling now in order to make everybody think everyone else is anti-Bitcoin, 1,000 people is not an accurate representation of US consumers, they could have just as easily given the poll to some employees at their company and told them to fill it out.

I'm sure surveys asking people whether they'd use the internet to buy goods a few years after it started would also yield the same results. Like mercistheman said, let's see what they'd say in a couple more years.

quote from franky1

i love statistics
1000 consumers. lets say 500 male 500 females
so 650 people would not use bitcoin

500 males = 320 males knew of bitcoin 180 did not
500 females = 190 females knew of bitcoin 310 did not

meaning 510 total people did know of about bitcoin
meaning 490 total people did not know about bitcoin what so ever

so out of the 510 that did know about it 140 still would not use bitcoin. and 370 would use bitcoin

summary
37% of todays population  will in "FUTURE POSSIBLY" adopt bitcoin.. sounds good to me
now if everyone atleast knew about it rather than just half the population.. then the possible adoption would be over 70%
