What use on an old machine (512 RAM) is Linux Mint, which is very light and functional. The Lubuntu does not work, I will test those indicated here.Thanks for suggestions. The best configuration for a modern operating system and quite usable is Debian Unstable + Openbox + preload, then disable unnecessary services, enable zram, and it should perform quite well. Post by: origin12 on August 29, 2014, 08:48:37 PM I tried both damn small linux and puppy linux years ago, and damn small linux was the smallest. It worked great at the time and I think you could run it from a business card sized CD. If it's stopped working nowadays then puppy linux might be worth a try.
