Post by: jackjack on August 29, 2014, 07:30:39 AM
Now that we learnt the sad news, don't you think his account should be locked?

It is sad news and ALS is a terrible thing, but what's the point of locking an account? Is someone going to access it fraudulently?

I thought about that because the satoshi account was locked too, and I think Hal has roughly the same credit here

I think it should not be done without the exclusive permission of Fran Finney (https://twitter.com/franfinney).

In agreement the account should not be locked unless Fran asks for it to be locked herself.
The possibility Fran has access to all his social media accounts, is high.
There is also a chance that he left a message for us before he died that was entrusted to fran for all we know/went into a cryogenic freezer to be revived if our technology level increases and he wouldn't be happy to see his account locked (One can dream besides being a cypherpunk Hal was an extropian)

@ Scott its the reason Satoshi if it was Satoshi left a message on the P2Pfoundationwebsite.

In what way is the Satoshi account locked?

Sort of ruins the idea that he might come back and post about what he will do with his billions  :(

In probably that he would have to sign a known Satoshi address before the account was 'unlocked'.

He will have to sign a message with his GPG key to gain access to his account again
