Title: How do I properly report a non-paying borrower? Post by: nebulus on April 10, 2012, 03:01:49 PM Somebody owes me some BTC and it does not seem like he is going to pay. Is there a sticky topic where I can warn other to stay away from the user?

Post by: Kluge on April 10, 2012, 10:49:32 PM We've tried various ways of collecting defaulters, but they all end up abandoned due to laziness. A thread would be very messy, but allow easy checks. As others said, alerting others to scammers seems pointless as defaulters almost never stick around. It isn't the best way to handle non-paying borrowers (defaulters,scammers or otherwise) but that's the best we have at the moment. Advice to a person who may default-Please be honest with your lenders so that you can at least work things out even if you're on the verge of defaulting instead of just running off with the money and not admitting it as it'll bite you back later (scammer tag,anyone?) and cost you dear (lenders can make huge losses). Normally in the real world,if a person has trouble keeping up with repayments,then you can go to a credit union (in US and UK,possibly other countries too) to help sort things out or a person who is willing to arbitrate on your behalf (either for a fee or for free). We should have more services like that in the Bitcoin world.I know I'm willing to offer this in my spare time for a small fee when I'm able (once the business becomes official in about 2 months time due to other business ventures taking me time to sort out.)
