Title: More Americans Think the US Does too little to Solve World Problems
Post by: Chef Ramsay on August 29, 2014, 05:33:28 PM
The Propaganda has been working out just peachy and now the boobs are primed for intervention w/ a smile. Create ISIS like we did al qaeda and then count on them to cause problems meaning that we'll have to fire up the munitions dept once again.

A large majority of Americans think the world is a more dangerous place than it was several years ago. And a terrorist group that was not even on the public’s radar a year ago – the Islamic militants known as ISIS or ISIL – today ranks near the top of its list of U.S. security threats.

As the public’s views of global threats have changed, so too have opinions about America’s role in solving world problems. On balance, more continue to think the United States does too much, rather than too little, to help solve world problems. But the share saying the U.S. does too little to address global problems has nearly doubled – from 17% to 31% – since last November, while the percentage saying it is doing too much has fallen from 51% to 39%.

Republicans, Democrats and independents all are more likely to say the U.S. does too little to solve world problems, but the shift among Republicans has been striking. Last fall, 52% of Republicans said the U.S. does too much to help solve global problems, while just 18% said it does too little. Today, 46% of Republicans think the U.S. does too little to solve global problems, while 37% say it does too much.

The new national survey by the Pew Research Center and USA TODAY, conducted August 20-24 among 1,501 adults, finds that 65% say the world is more dangerous than it was several years ago; just 7% say the world has gotten safer while 27% say things have not changed much.

Public perceptions of the global threats confronting the United States have changed since the Pew Research Center released its major study of foreign policy attitudes – America’s Place in the World – in December 2013. Currently, 71% view “Islamic extremist groups like al Qaeda” as a major threat to U.S. well-being, about the same as last year. But nearly as many (67%) say “the Islamic militant group in Iraq and Syria known as ISIS,” represents a major threat.

US created the problem in the first place.

A lot of terrorist groups were funded and trained by the CIA during the cold war to fight soviet. How quickly the tide changes and US end up biting itself in the ass.

The reason for this is because the US has such a strong military. We are the only ones in the world that has the military capacity to potentially handle this job/responsibility.

Or, more like, you are lead to believe that.  ;)

Yet again, you scroll past all the bullshit percentages to find the real number of individuals taking part in these political polls and it is 1501 people and this article is trying to claim that the opinions of 1501 people are representing an entire country of http://www.census.gov/popclock/ . This bullshit seriously needs to stop and political newspapers and groups needs to stop butchering mathematics for their own ends, no wonder none of them have any real solutions to the economic problems we face.

Does anybody here for example seriously believe that going into Iraq and even Syria to fight ISIS on the ground would amount to anything other than pissing off the people there even more?

The goal of the fighting was to distract the voters and fear the population into giving up more of their freedom for secuirty.

Nothing new here. Orwell 1984.

Why would you think that the US military is not the strongest in the world? We have by far the most advanced weapons systems, very highly trained military, a large number of nuclear weapons, a fleet of submarines and warships......

the US does have a very strong military. There is really not any other one country that has the capability to police the world as the US does.

Are you able to name one country that can?
