And so the Bungie and Activision marketing hype machine has been unleashed I think we all know where that $500 million went in reality, the fact that they're already advertising pre-order bonuses is a sign of desperation. Do you guys maybe think they're trying to branch out from the Halo and Call of Duty franchises a bit?

The guy writing the guardian article writes like he's never seen an MMO being developed before.

Hopefully a larger part of that money went to develop the game to its maximum performance optimization and graphical perfection. Well, a man can dream...  ;D

That is comparable to the most expensive blockbusters ever made.

Hope the game is as good as its budget suggests.

[Yawn]  ComeON guys STOP GETTING SUCKERED BY THE MARKETING DEPARTMENTS OF THESE GAMING PUBLISHERS!  [/yawn]

I almost got bought in to destiny until I put it together - this is just fucking mass effect all the fuck over again with a different universe.  Its a 1st person shooter yet the majority of the game footage is of the cutscenes or a cutscene style of gameplay (no one fucking plays fps like that, they'd die all the time)

"What is my frame of reference you ask?"  - I was a hardcore metal gear solid fan until peace-walker came out for psp (that whole training captives theme was really off putting and didn't have the same level of enjoyment as snake eater).  I didn't have really any problems with FPS and then it seemed like that's the ONLY genre available on my console (short of the rockstar sandbox titles which I also enjoy RDR and GTAV are enjoyable through the 1st playthrough then you put them down never to play again lol) - I actually also enjoyed La Noire as well.  I think finishing the mass effect series, then playing farcry 2, then playing disowned, back to back put me in an awkward position with my game console - I just finished Bully and now I'm going to turn back FF13-2 back to finish it through, but otherwise I'm fed up with game offerings from Msft and it seems to a lesser extent with gaming overall as NOTHING on the PS4 is wowing me towards wanting to buy one - GTA San andreas, MGS2|3, Frequency, NBA Street - those games And even to a little extent Grand Tourismo 3 - those were my reasons for buying a PS2.

This anger and frustration towards gaming publishers I think started with Sleeping Dogs - it was marketed masterfully and made you really want to experience that kind of a game - but when it came time to pickup and play the game for itself, the reviews made it seem opposite of the marketing efforts - just a bunch of washed up hype that sounds cool as a video game but in reality the mechanics become hollow and leave more to be desired.  Okay I'm off my soapbox I'll go back to looking up what games are available on PS4 (to put together my list of reasons for wanting one), sorry I nagged you guys, I hope Destiny is as awesome as it can be.

And again, no PC release at launch. Are gaming companier really that afraid of hackers, or could it be that they received funds from Microsoft and Sony for a colsole exclusve launch?

LOL that's funny, you think this all started with Sleeping Dogs? It started back in 2003 for me around the time games like Star Wars Galaxies were being released, this is nothing new.

I'll tell you exactly what's happened here, because the gaming publishers and companies hate filesharers so much what they've done to prevent people from downloading it instead of playing their console games they've released the console ones first and then leave it as long as possible before the rage builds up and people either give in and buy the console version or they get the PC version after everybody else has. Or better yet, like some companies are doing they're just going to go fully console and abandon PC users.

The reason they're doing this is because they blame filesharers for all their problems on the PC, when in reality it's just them making shitty products that PC gamers refuse to buy, if they can't even play it for free, a lot of people won't even bother buying it, I know I won't and I'll be glad to be rid of these crappy companies who show no respect to their customers. I think this is the last strategy they have before they'll bitch and moan about how it's all our fault and then go to console.

Amazes me that they're doing it with a game like Destiny though, because MMO's have always been a PC thing, I predict it will be a very expensive failure which they will learn nothing from.

Seens more like a desperate run to have a game that is not from EA to play somethin like CoD and Titanfall.
The money invested is probably by paying a lot of small studios to finish the game faster.

Probbaly they won't release it to PC.
The old history about PC being the best source of pirating games makes all the game industry to not put effort on a decent multiplayer game. Even if the singleplayer sucks, the game industry still evades PC games, even that Indie developers depends on making games on PC.

I tried to watch a few minutes of it on Twitch and meh
Yet another FPS game, let the bought "10/10" critics begin.
