That is quite a sum of BTC you have managed to acquire! I personally would think of ways that you know you can make a solid investment in that you know is guaranteed to get you a profit. Investing in businesses, buying properties and renting them out there are many ways you could choose to help you invest and gain a profit :)

Good luck on your investment whatever you choose to do!

You can invest in real estate, maybe do some renting too, you get about 1% of your house value every month, so about 10% profit in one year.

I would buy a house, rent it out and wait one year and sell it for a big profit.

What would you do with it?

Thanks!!

Firstly, I'd avoid announcing to anyone in the future that you have this sum of BTC. Don't want any targets on your back.

If it were me, I'd keep a good deal in cold storage and continue trading to hedge. I don't feel the BTC-denominated investment scene is very, ummm, reliable....

Hold and sell half your position when it hit $5000.

And use the cash to buy a nice house and rent it out if the rental yield is higher than 8%.

The best way for you? I dont know. I know nothing about you, your preferences, your tolerance for risk or your circumstances of life.

What would you do with it?

Cashout half to pre-finance a house (I assume I got it legally and taxes are paid) keep doing what I did to get 550 BTC with the rest, probably diversify more.

I agree in a sense.

Eventually, there will be a cryptocurrency developed that's marginally better than Bitcoin due to some advantage. Sure, the features could be added to BTC later too, but the Bitcoin devs would be playing catchup then.

But I see 2015 as a very bright year for Bitcoin still.

I'd drop 25 BTC into low volume anonymous alt coins and convert 2-5% to fiat at each tidal rise just to cover your non-digital operating costs.

2015 is going to be an epic year for BTC and the digital finance realm.

You can check out JUA, bitcoin bank by ChinaBTC (one of top 5 major btc exchanges in China), daily 0.025% interest for current deposit / 1.3~1.4% for fixed deposit (opened for 6 times, 1000~2000btc amount each time. Almost always sold out in minutes, but currently fixed deposit is not available).

URL http://save.jua.com

In Chinese JUA(聚啊) means collecting and saving treasures.
Now it has around 30k BTC savings in all.
I don't work for JUA, and I dont have that many BTCs like you, but I managed to get considerable btc income last month.

(You can change top corner flag to alter webpage language, and check the introduction yourself.)

For other top exchange markets in China, there are also OKCoin's BiShengBi (Meaning btc generated by btc, presently not open to public), and HuoBi's BitVC (at about 0.012% daily interest for current deposit / 1.2% for fixed deposit, currently fixed deposit is not available). I now have my both JUA and BitVC income every day, but ChinaBTC's JUA is easier to use and has higher pay back.

But always learn about what would you invest before you invest in it.

I would buy a house, rent it out and wait one year and sell it for a big profit.

I'm not sure if most people want to be a lowly landlord or property dealer. Also in a lot of countries .gov managed to inflate huge bubbles so it's quite risky in most developed countries.

My advice to OP:

Diversification is key.

I would leave some in btc, precious metals (physical), property (carefully selected), land. I would definitely invest some in creating bitcoin companies.

take 448 BTC... put it in a paper wallet with super secure password... then encrypt it with gpg... ofcourse don't forget either password...

the 2 BTC remaining... have fun with that... check out the scamurities sub forum..... invest 2btc in said forum... when you lose the 2BTC, and 99% of the time you probably will... just be glad you have the 448BTC as your nest egg.....

now take the 448 BTC remaining... and don't touch it... unless you want to sell it slowly.... do not invest... investing in BTC is shall we say.. another name for someone else to take your money.

and yeah yeah I' sure others will say I'm talking shit.... how many people have made sizeable gans ? or lost it all ? Whle it might be fun to invest 0.005 and get back 0.0006 the first month... then 0.007.. then 0.0008... after a few months it will go in the opposite direction.

You have obviously been doing somethig right to collect that much BTC... weather its from buying.. stealing.. gambling or what ever.. what ever it is.. keep doing that, if you must :)

This is true. With inflation, the value of your bitcoin will generally decrease over time, granted the price of bitcoin is likely to grow as adoption grows, however there is a limit to this and you ultimately need to grow the number of bitcoin you own in order to grow your wealth.

Lending BTC is very risky and very time intensive as people generally are not willing to put up collateral for loans, however it is also generally too risky to lend to someone without collateral.

For these reasons I don't think the OP would be able to deploy 550 BTC worth of capital for lending.

I will purchase some Scrypt mining machines because in scrypt mining you can tons of profit if you know what you are doing. I would say I can invest 10 BTC for buying mining scrypt, there's a new product on the market which uses 1200W and it's 500mh/s (SCRYPT). Which is awesome and makes you a lot of profit without using a lot of electricity.

The best thing to do would be convert half of it to Fiat. Not because bitcoin is bad, but because of the volatility, you never know where it would end to be.
The rest, you can use to open a casino, by hiring a developer, which is better than investing in a dice site, looking at the number of scams happening.

woa........550 BTC...a too big btc number...i think you should invest to purchase on car or real estate.. :)

Purchasing a car would not be an investment. The value would drop instantly. The real estate purchase would be an investment though.

Hi all!!
After years of mining and trading, now I own about 550 BTC. What's the best way to invest this sum?
What would you do with it?

Thanks!!

If you get that 550 BTC, is because you are realy good in the business, why you dont invest more on Mining and trading? if you are searching something new to do with your btc, you can open a gambling site.

Hi all!!
After years of mining and trading, now I own about 550 BTC. What's the best way to invest this sum?
What would you do with it?

Thanks!!

Do you get paid to advertise this? You seem to post about it a lot.

Im considering putting a small amount like 0.5 (not small for me) and see what happens, but I cant decide yet, everything looks like a scam to me. Call me paranoid if you want.

I'm pretty sure this thread is just a not very covert way of advertising whatever THIS is. Scams upon scams

But if you make a bad investment, then thats another thing.

Some people get themself a mortgage or loan just to invest in real estate.

If they for whatever reason can't pay off their debt, you'll of course lose your investment.

Wait for new discount codes on LTCGEAR and earn 10-15% weekly (or contact chris directly for bulk discount). It should earn 150-200% over the next few months even with difficulty increases.

If I were you, I would use them to start crypto related online business. Crypto will survive and grow, the question is which coins will survive. Investing in crypto services is savier than into coins itself. To make it easier for you I can sell you one of my old projects, like http://www.cryptoreading.com/

I have also some cool crypto related domain names for sale, like blockchainbitcoin.com, blockchainaddress.com and some others....

Check out all the shit cloudmining websites (they're mostly ponzis actually).

Just invest 0.1 btc to each one of them, then wait for a profit. Or keep track of them, which pays in time etc. And share these info with people on a website like "cloud mining monitor" etc.

Thats not the best thing to do.  You might lose much more money for just returns in one of the sites.

Check out BTCJam.com or BitLendingClub.com help out some of the smaller home miners that have loan requests on these sites, you can add some interest to whatever you loan out and let your BTC make more BTCs for you all while you help others in the crypto world. If I was in your position that's what I would be doing, I'd invest some, also keep some in a hardware wallet to see if the price goes up in the next year or 2. The rest would be put into a mining farm of my own, buy a bunch of SP31s and let those make more coins for me.
The nice thing about BTCs you can let them make more BTCs for you without much work.

Or hold out until the price per coin gets to a point where you feel comfortable and sell them, there's plenty of sites out there for this. But with that many if true I would always keep some through the ups and downs, just to see what happens. With Microsoft now in the BTC biz, and a lot of other companies helping bring BTC mainstream you never know what the price per coin will be in 6 months to a year.

I am always accepting tips https://www.changetip.com/tipme/RME

Another approach is taking 550 btc and cashing them out 1 BTC per day in the form of cash or goods or trades etc.

That will be about 1.5 years of cashing out which will give you a better cashout average than dumping all at once at any one time.

Is that a trading site ? If yes, then how would that guarantee a return ?

hey buddy, how is it going?

i'm not promising you any return, and if someone does.. run away because that may be a scam.

Hey guys, i'm the CEO of Blinktrade and we provide the technology for eurobit.io.

I believe you are all correct and should suspect and be skeptical about every new bitcoin exchange. There are lots of scammers out there and you should make your own due diligence on any company.

Our CTO Rodrigo Souza has been interviews by CoinDesk and gave a few tips on how to avoid being scammed in 2015 http://www.coindesk.com/avoid-bitcoin-scams-2015/. You can check the article and understand a little more about our safety practices, or you could just check our source code at https://github.com/blinktrade/.

Every bitcoin deposited with Eurobit are kept in multi-signature wallets, and in order to have access to the bitcoins a person would have to have 3 separate keys (mine or rodrigo's, eurobit or a third party).

We are also focused on connecting our exchanges around the world and allow them to remit bitcoins in a matter of a second, this is something missing in the bitcoin industry.

We advise all users to withdrawal their bitcoins if they aren't being traded, once you wanna trade you can just deposit (we offer instant deposits) and start trading. An exchange should not be used as a wallet.

You can all try the testnet platform hosted on http://testnet.blinktrade.com

thank you all,

Yoni

After years of mining and trading, now I own about 550 BTC. What's the best way to invest this sum?
What would you do with it?

Thanks!!

if you are looking for an easy way to spend part of those BTC, check out www.e-coin.io - it is a Visa debit card which allows you to spend your bitcoins anywhere Visa logo is displayed (ATM, POS, online). Fees are low, conversions are almost immediate, no bank account required

the best thing would be to hold some, and use the rest to grow a smaller principal.

I mean if you have 550 btc, 50 btc should be put into to mining or something.

Well done for holding onto 550 BTC!

Invest in property which can handle a massive increase in interest rates, that's as safe as you can get and the returns I am getting are 14.2%. I used a portfolio management company called Holla Property Group in the UK and am amazed at how quickly my money has grown.

Show us a wallet address and a signed message first! ;D
why would he do that ? to get a million people try to get those funds from him?
there's no reason for him to prove that he has that amount.

Yeah, money loves silence, and big money loves deathly silence. But why would the OP start this thread in the first place? If he did really earn 500 bitcoins from trading and mining, he would already know what to do with them.

Just 2 posts and 9 pages of discussion, you've been had.
