Title: Home brew lager/beer for bitcoin
Post by: davicbolctz on April 14, 2012, 04:16:04 PM
What about the idea of home made beers for bitoin.  I know it illegal to sell alcohol without a licence but would bitcoin get around that problem as technically/legally speaking its not money.

Cases of organic beer well made would mean people could drink nice stuff at home without paying extortionate tax rates.  You can make some pretty nice stuff these days.  I know people could brew there own beer but if everyone did that there would be no off licences.

Selling addictive drugs has always been profitable, please drink responsibly:)

Your thoughts..... .... ... .. .

What exactly is the definition of "sale of alcohol" in your juristiction? I think you'll find that it does not actually require the medium of exchange to be legal tender (otherwise people would just use foreign currencies get around it). I think you'll also have a hard time convincing a judge that a fungible commodity (which is what bitcoin is) with the word "coin" in the name is not technically money.

I am in the uk.  I just did a quick look about the net and there is a pup in the uk swaping beer for produce pheasant, potatoes etc.  Bitcoin is just a magnetic or electrical state (usually...).  So this might not be a bad idea.  Except for the fact I'd drink it all before I'd sold any:(

This would be illegal in the US. Licensing an taxes must be considered.
