Title: Anyone use Arduino? Post by: Uncurlhalo on April 15, 2012, 05:02:06 PM Just wondering how much interest there was in amateur electronics stuff like Aduino. It's a fun little prototyping and development platform. Very versatile. I feel like bitcoiners would be into this type of thing. I myself have and Arduino Mega.
If you've never heard about it I encourage you to check it out here: arduino.cc (http://arduino.cc) Title: Re: Anyone use Arduino? Post by: jim618 on April 16, 2012, 01:56:18 PM If you are looking for a bitcoin hardhack project to do have a look at this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76004.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76004.0) Mainly to make writing a command line interface to MultiBit a bit more interesting I am going to have a go at driving it over a serial line (to a HP50G graphing calculator). See the bottom post on the thread. There are Arduino designs that drive a 2 line LCD and also a serial line to a PC that I almost considered using. It is a bit too much to learn to do though so would take me too long. If you have a Arduino mega and fancy extending bitcoin use down to custom devices check out what I was looking at. There is also a thread in the Development and Technical Discussion about smartcards/ dedicated custom devices here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7539.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7539.0) People have some great ideas but I do not think anyone has any implementations out there yet. Title: Re: Anyone use Arduino? Post by: Uncurlhalo on April 16, 2012, 04:59:01 PM That's some really cool stuff! There is a whole lot that can be done with this kind of open source hardware.
I'm glad to see other people using it and integrating it into Bitcoin! Title: Re: Anyone use Arduino? Post by: rjk on April 16, 2012, 05:10:48 PM How about making some kind of embedded FPGA controller that is plug-'n-play for any and all FPGAs currently available for mining? It would need USB, Ethernet, and possibly a small screen or something of that kind. Although this might not be of much use once Raspberry Pi gets released and someone develops software for it.
