For trading alt currencies I usually go for Cryptsy or Bittrex (used to use Mintpal til they got hacked).

What are the biggest ones? The biggest Chinese exchanges are BTC China, OKCoin, Huobi and LakeBTC, but there are also some accusation of faking trade volumes for those Chinese exchanges.
