Title: [2014-09-05] Do These “Free Bitcoin” Sites Work?

Google the phrase “free bitcoin” and you won’t be disappointed with the number of results. What you will be disappointed with however is the nature of the sites claiming to offer “free” bitcoins. As the old saying goes: “Nothing in life is free.”

What these sites actually do is require you to perform time consuming tasks for a few measly satoshi (0.00000001 Bitcoin) which you will probably never see in any useable form as the sites have payout minimums that are impossible to reach. I decided to trawl through some of the top results for this search in an attempt to actually use them.

Agreed,  http://freebitco.in/?r=22874 is by far the best, but we're only talking about 0.2 cents per hour.

However, if you only spend 10 seconds, then you could tell yourself you're getting 0.2 cents per 0.0027777777777778 hours = 72 cents per hour...

Then if you say, I'll only do this when I'm in line waiting for something, or while watching tv, then you could say you're getting paid for time that would have otherwise gone wasted...

still, don't quit your day job!

Wow a ledgendary member posting a ref link. Think that's the first I've seen as such.

Hard to believe they're even giving such sites free publicity, though I hope people actually read the article and their conclusion:

Quote
Basically, for lack of better words, these sites are bad and you should never waste your time even entertaining the thought of using them. But then again I think two valuable lessons can be taught by sites like these. Firstly, nothing in life is free: there is a cost and/or reason attached to everything. Secondly, if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is and you should steer clear of it.

I wouldn't trust any 'free bitcoins' website or program at all. It's either a waste of time or your device will probably get compromised.

Yep, like others have said these sites are likely some kind of signup scam or something, their are faucets out there that give you tiny fractions of Bitcoin to play with but the amount is so low you can't spend it on anything, part of the reason they do this is because they are using adspace and donations to do it.

I myself am earning some part time Bitcoins taking part in a sig campaign, there are a number of them about and most are legitimate it's just a question of whether you think it's worth it about, I get 0.024BTC for mine per week but the post count requirement is low so I don't think it's that bad.

G8 "dust creators"  ;D

Best thing to do is, to set up as many active referrals as possible, and have them generate income. With :
http://freebitco.in/?r=460370 and http://faucet.bitcoinzebra.com/?ref=ae650bf156d4 {Oops did I post a referral?}  ;)

Set your faucet deposit address to your https://cex.io/r/0/Kprawn/0/ address. {Oops, I did it again} and then you use that income to buy more GHs to mine with.

This way, you can actually see some ROI on cloud mining.  {You investing less of your own money, to buy mining power}

This method, solve 3 problems:

1. No more solving Captcha's
2. A possibility to reach ROI with "Cloud mining"
3. No more "dust" in your wallet.

Hope it makes sense.

Enjoy
