You will need to know your subnet.  You can get it if you go to computer line in windows and type "ipconfig"

Most likely you will be like
IP: 192.168.1.XXX
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gate way is your router most likely: 192.168.1.1

It varies depending on your network.

Check one of the existing guides, such as https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344970.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344970.0)
It has instructions how to connect your PC directly to the Antminer S1 (without a router), using a temporary fixed IP on the PC side in the same subnet as the Antminer S1 default IP (192.168.1.99).  Once you login to your Antminer you can change its WAN address to a fixed unused value in the subnet supported by your router  (say 192.168.2.90).  Then change your pc back to its original DHCP setting, connect both to the network and you'll find your Antminer S1 at the new address.

Cheers

192.168.2.x
255.255.255.0
192.168.2.1

Whats next?

That appears to be network settings.

Change router IP Address settings  to   192.168.1.1    NOT the  192.168.2.1 now
Then find the S1   at   192.168.1.99

If you have other connections to your router they are probably  dhcp  and will still connect

or he could plug Ethernet cable directly from computer to ANT, and change computer's ip to 192.168.1.1. then connect to ant
