I think Neos may be a decent call. key is an easy double, can probably get in cheaper though

Britcoin.

Short term look for coins that are rising in volume that make it to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th page of Bittrex. Then check their ANN thread to make sure nothing is fishy.

Ethereum has everything to grow big, great concept, great devs, a lot of attention, and shitload of money for promotion/development. But by its design (inflation model), it may be very hard to get the ROI.

Why do you think LTC is a good investment? It will be in decline imho. It doesn't fit it's purpose after scrypt ASIC miners. It's cheaper to transfer (tx fees lower than BTC) but DOGE is even cheaper. It also doesn't seem to be actively promoted by devs/community (I can be wrong on this one).

LTC is dying a slow death.

Coins with unique features and great dev teams such as XC and CLOAK would be my top choices. Not a speculation but a real deal.
BTCD and Black Coin are solid as well.

It's probably not a safe option to list individual coins, because it's almost impossible to predict what the future holds.  Coins mostly rise and fall based on the whims of whales and pump'n'dumpers, but sometimes also because of their features and general usefulness.  It's difficult to predict the former, but you can make sound judgements on the latter.  Most people are only going to recommend the coins they hold themselves, so bias can't really be avoided.  Just research the coins that seem to be getting a lot of attention and make sure they're getting attention for the right reasons.  Those are probably/maybe/potentially your safest bets.

If, on the other hand, you did just want people to list the coins they hold and haven't been made bagholder of yet, then BTSX, Monero, NXT and Qora.

Volume doesn't necessarily imply profit, though.  It can trade in huge quantities and still sink like a stone.

Yes, I get that part.  But the OP said he wanted to invest in something to make money.  What I'm saying is that high volume won't necessarily make him a profit.  The price has been dropping steadily for a while now and there's little evidence to suggest that's likely to change in the near future.  Repeating the statement that it has high volume doesn't change that.

Yup...and with the Winkelvoss ETF comng up soon (ish) BTC could rise like crazy. Maybe.

NXT is always a good bet ( ;D), and I'm pretty certain that SuperNET and its associated coins (BTCD/BBR + others...) will do very well.

I also have a vague gut feeling that NxTHorizon is about to go to the moon......and CMC agrees with me so far this week.

NEOS is a viable option, with a dedicated/talented developer. I hold a bit of it myself, as well as IOC and HAL currently. I think HAL has some room to run, but will probably be a shorter term play compared to NEOS and IOC.

NEOS and HAL are just fads.  In 6 weeks one of them will be forgotten and the other dying a slow death.

I second that. Both are coins with a lifespan of a single pump and dump - 4-8 weeks max.

It's ok DooMad, Eldude is a LTC bagholder.

Litecoin has Not been following Bitcoin's price trend. For ex: While Bitcoin rose to over $600 in May/June, Litecoin kept on falling in price.

Litecoin is/has been on a downtrend for most of it's life, because it's a Bitcoin Clone. There is no reason for Litecoin's price to go up at all since it offers nothing over bitcoin, and that's been shown by it's constant price fall.

Also, to those saying that the only thing Litecoin offers is security...you're wrong on that as well, Ixcoin's difficulty is 1billion higher than Litecoins, and it's hashrate is also higher, making Ixcoin the 2nd securest coin after Bitcoin.

So again, Litecoin has absolutely Nothing going for it.

I bought 3 LTC when they first hit 11 bucks, so I'm a small bagholder too, heh (albeit a more realistic one).  Even if I'd sold one of them at $45 I'd still be up.  Oh well, live and learn.  HODL isn't always the answer to everything.

You are spot on. The only thing that LTC had was that it was released in 2011 - and thus held the No. 1 BTC Alt status for quite some time. Now we are witnessing a new generation of coins that are way superior than some plain and dull BTC fork - which LTC is. This is a fact and it cannot be easily disputed. LTC is BTC fork like 100s of other alts out there.

Yes there are a lot of shitcoins and scamcoins among the 500 + alts out there, but there are a few real gems out there , that are very innovative and have the potential to change the course of crypto future.

Odd about Litecoin. If you're a tech-head, you'll conclude that Litecoin has lousy fundamentals precisely on those grounds. But if you're a network-effect kind of person, you'll conclude that Litecoin is in for the distance.

Yep, it's odd how the two lines of reasoning clash so starkly. The funny thing about the "network effect" is that it's more-or-less a gussied up term for "people are creatures of habit."

Feathercoin is very cheap at the moment, within in the next few weeks (or hopefully sooner) the announcement will be made to shift to Neoscrypt which is bound to see the price rise.
I will add though that Feathercoin's goal is not to make large amounts of money for speculators in the short term, but to be a viable alternative to Fiat so is playing the long game, not the P&D game

BTSX definitely. I'm also in ETH (but it's too late to buy now), I believe XCR has a potential to explode.
