Title: bitcoin-qt.exe crashing on Windows 7 Post by: maltaethiron on April 19, 2012, 04:16:33 AM So I installed the newest version of the Bitcoin client and every time I try to run it, it crashes during the "Rescanning" phase of the startup process. Any help with this?
Also, sorry if there's already a thread about this; I looked around for a bit and couldn't find anything. Again, thanks for any help ;D Title: Re: bitcoin-qt.exe crashing on Windows 7 Post by: finway on April 19, 2012, 11:14:19 AM It didn't on my windows7 box.

Title: Re: bitcoin-qt.exe crashing on Windows 7 Post by: maltaethiron on April 20, 2012, 05:39:08 PM To be perfectly honest, I would have absolutely no idea how to go about doing that. Suggestions?
Title: Re: bitcoin-qt.exe crashing on Windows 7 Post by: DeathAndTaxes on April 20, 2012, 05:43:40 PM 1) Close bitcoin client (if it has been crashing you may wish to reboot or check task manager to ensure process isn't still running). 2) Open the Bitcoin data directory. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory 3) Backup your wallet.dat if it has any value (of course you already have a backup right) 4) Delete* everything except the wallet.dat file 5) Start bitcoin client - it will download and re-index the blockchain (may take a couple hours) * alternatively just move the files to another folder for temporary safe keeping Title: Re: bitcoin-qt.exe crashing on Windows 7 Post by: maltaethiron on April 20, 2012, 05:53:15 PM Thanks, that worked!
After deleting the contents of the folder save wallet.dat, I ran it and it crashed once, then ran it again and it worked fine. Thanks for the help! Title: Re: bitcoin-qt.exe crashing on Windows 7 Post by: maltaethiron on April 21, 2012, 04:58:37 AM Ok, so I'm having a new problem now.
It ran fine for a few hours and redownloaded the blockchain. Now when I try to run it, I get a C++ runtime error after a few seconds. It says: This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. And here's the log: http://pastebin.com/89KeEA1x |
