you would think Apple could have deployed them elsewhere in operations,

and the timing seems fairly ordinary.

These types of technology induced layoffs will start to rock the Banking world soon.

You would think Apple could have redeployed them elsewhere, I hope everyone dumps their stock NOW, and doesn't buy the new phone or watch!

Oh wait, MacWorld is not owned by Apple at all, but by IDG.

If they were employees of apple then apple would likely have tried to find them new jobs within the company however they were not apple employees. They are simply a publication with the word "mac" in it, it does public a number of articles about apple products but other then that does not have any affiliation with apple.
