I had bought some best buy gift cards, and they were purchased with STOLEN CREDIT CARDS

I tried to buy something on bestbuy and the codes where = $0.00


I basically lost 117 btc coins @ 5.10 each..........

1 150$ code was still valid...


so basically I lost 600-112.50 = $487.50

Pretty dumb on his part, he should have been legit until the 29th when he was coming back with 50k in amazon gift cards. Built some rep and made it sound like they were in hot demand and people would have been sending him 1,000's. But sorry to hear he scammed you, I talked to him on the phone and it was from SF but I gave the number to another person he scammed and its looking like it was a burn phone

Worthless codes don't neccessarily mean they were purchased with stolen credit cards. Did you get that confirmation from Best Buy?  Maybe he gave the same codes out to 2 different people.

I purchased some of his Amazon codes, so obviously I'll be watching this...

How do you know they were purchased with stolen credit cards? If you are assuming they were purchased with stolen credit cards based on the fact that the codes were worth $0, have you at least spoken to newdude about getting a replacement/refund prior to calling him a 'fucking goof fuck'?

I purchased 1200 worth of his best buy codes, he sent 100 and disappeared with 160 BTC. The code was valid at the time but I have not checked it since.

Re read my argument. I was never on new dudes side. I just pointed out why all of a sudden we gave a shit where the cards came from. When you started no one cared, we took your story for absolute and it was all good.

plus as far we know the amazon cards he sold still work, its those best buy ones that were carded :D

Yes carding is currently a big problem with our community.

It is important to trust a source before you begin any sort of business engagement.

Also it just goes to show the need for public awareness of the bitcoin so these types of unfortunate incidences can be prevented.

Dont trust people selling these rounded value cards ($50,$100,$500 etc) if they have only a few weeks rep, you are making it too easy for them

This seems to be the new trend:

1. New account just out of Newbie jail selling gift cards.
2. Older accounts with very low post counts selling gift cards.

Make sure you use the Bitcoin-OTC... It is a Web of Trust for rating people after their transactions... Scammers very quickly get called out, and get negative ratings.

I’ve done many, many, trades, providing you do due-diligence in checking the trading history, before putting yourself at risk.
If you receive bitcoins you are generally not at risk...
If you are sending bitcoins you are at risk from scammers.

If you keep a level head, check before putting yourself at risk… use trusted 3rd parties as escrows, and overall don’t do anything too stupid… The life of a scammer will become quite unprofitable.

codes were valid before monday 23rd  I had checked values on sunday night, ad was goign to order on monday, I still ordered, but had to pay out 600$ MORE out of pocket
