Title: Threads Lost in time. CPU to GPU Mining Evolution? <("<)
Post by: Opnsrc on September 11, 2014, 08:42:48 PM
Hmmm...
Am I mistaken, Or did I just find the thread containing the very first mentions of the evolution from CPU to GPU mining?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133.0

I really like this comment on the first page lol.

While this is definitely really cool, it won't benefit anyone if you release it. After two weeks, the difficulty system will adjust and we'll be back to generating bitcoins at the same rate but using much more computer power. Although I suppose this will benefit those with fast video cards instead of just fast CPUs.

I'm one of those people, so full steam ahead! :D

although the mining with GPU nowadays is present more than ever, but there is a few altcoins that has a good marketcap and get a enough reward and is based on CPU mining making an easy way to start mining an altcoin with a basic pc

The thread that you have linked to in your post is a very interesting read and definitely worth the time to look into. It reminds us of the time only a few years ago when one would be able to mine many bitcoins with only a regular desktop computer. Today, we cannot dream of such a thing.
