Title: Bitcoin promoter to face five years in prison for conspiring to sell Bitcoin Post by: tilray on September 12, 2014, 03:47:31 PM Charlie Shrem, twenty four year old co-founder and CEO of the Bitcoin exchange company BitInstant, is set to face five years in prison after reappearing in court, with his sentencing to take place on January 20. BitInstant was founded in 2011 by Gareth Nelson and Charlie Shrem with the aim of allowing customers to make purchases from over 700,000 vendors through Bitcoin, including Walmart, Walgreens, and Duane Reade.
