Title: [ANN] ByteSt@mp - The Internet Timestamp Service [DATACOIN]
Post by: sampei7777 on September 13, 2014, 05:15:58 PM
This is NOT a new alt-currency !

-----BEGIN TIMESTAMPED TEXT-----
Bitcoin let us imagine a world without banks.
Now, imagine a world without notaries and without public Records.
Here we are.

Bytestamp (http://www.bytestamp.net) (The Internet Timestamp Service) is a timestamp service not based on trust by which can be timestamped any electronic document. It is based on Datacoin, a Bitcoin alternative criptocurrency. The hash of the file, that is unique for each file, is recorded in the Datacoin blockchain and then shared in the miners peer-to-peer network. So, it also go under the Proof of Work. For further explanation, read the FAQ (http://www.bytestamp.net/home/faq)

What is Bytestamp?

Bytestamp is an Internet Timestamp Service. It can be used to put a timestamp on a file not based on trust.
Bytestamp is based on a blockchain similar to Bitcoin's one, but of another crypto-curreny, called DataCoin.
Datacoin has a unique feature: it permits to record different types of data into its blockchain.
So, it can be used in order to put timestamps on files.

How does ByteStamp work?

Each time a document is uploaded, it is processed by an hash function that outputs its digest. Each file has its own digest and from the digest you cannot go back to the corresponding file.
This digest (and not the file) is recorded in the Datacoin blockchain and than confirmed by miners together the transaction. Because the digest is subjected to the proof of work, than at that time the digest had to exist. But, because that digest can be generated only by one file, the file's owner can prove that he/she made it before that date/time.

This is a timestamp system not based on trust.
-----END TIMESTAMPED TEXT-----

The file is timestamped at UTC Date/Time:
2014-09-13 17:01:06 UTC
with 8 confirmations in block number 492070 (http://www.bytestamp.net/blocks/qblo/en/492070) - ID transaction: ceb4b1d339d27d883d252a801fef8afd6194baee46cffb6ddc278360440ad5bd (http://www.bytestamp.net/blocks/qtx/en/ceb4b1d339d27d883d252a801fef8afd6194baee46cffb6ddc278360440ad5bd)
info (http://www.bytestamp.net/docs/chl/en/home/index)

We also have the first Datacoin block explorer (http://www.bytestamp.net/blocks/index)

Wow! That is really big suprise for me :)
Such great function! Pitty that, on Bter.com deposits on DTC are blocked. Could you do somethink with it?

We are studying datacoin network problems, as you can see on  this thread  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=636017.msg8806579#msg8806579).

BTW, I would like to explain everyone how to use ByteSt@mp (http://www.bytestamp.net/) to put a timestamp on a file:

1) first, you have to upload a document (or write in the textbox) choosing the free or paid service as you like.

2) after a while (wait a few minutes) you have to upload another time the same document (or write the same text in the textbox) choosing the check only option to see its status

You can repeat several times step 2 to see when it is sent to blockchain, when it is confirmed, and how the number of confirmations grows in the time.

Maybe this was not clear reading the FAQ, sorry.

Strange concept and a site without even a basic template. Good luck.

I like this.  DTC is a highly underappreciated concept.

I wonder if it is possible to see and graphically interpret a Datacoin transaction payload in the Bytest@mp block explorer.  I was thinking of Deckbound and Landgrab, where playing cards and virtual real estate are embedded into the Bitcoin blockchain.  Datacoin seems a much better vehicle for this, since an enormous 128k of data is available per transaction.

https://www.deckbound.com/

Is there a Github repository for the Bytest@mp Datacoin block explorer?

Added text field to public file.

The comment can contain a link that point to the original document.

The comment is recorded in Datacoin Blockchain in the same transaction of original file, thus linking the note to the file.

The comment also goes in the alt attribute of the file if it is an image.

Also developed an internal hascash to improve security.

Thanks to everyone for your interest in ByteStamp!

New [ANN] page for Datacoin is here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2188160.0

Blockchain is stable, with 27 000 000 coins mined so far and difficulty at 8.75.
