Title: How does a German buy Bitcoin?
Post by: Daily Anarchist on April 26, 2012, 10:21:46 PM
A buddy of mine in Germany owes me money. I did a favor for him but made him promise to pay me back in Bitcoin. Problem is, I don't know how he will go about getting bitcoin. He's got the Satoshi client installed and the blockchain fully downloaded. He doesn't need to get his Bitcoin anonymously or anything. He'd be happy to do it as easy as possible. I just need to tell him which sites to register with etc.

Any help?

There a few possibilities.
1. Bitcoin.de (SEPA)
2. Intersango.com SEPA)
3. Bitcoinmarket24.com (SEPA)

There is bitcoin-central.net that accepts SEPA EUR and doesn't charge any fees.

Used intersango a couple of times with SEPA bank transfer. No troubles.

I don't know about the others, but Bitcoinmarket24 has a german bank account so if you choose the germany option while ordering you don't even have to do a sepa tranfer, just an ordinary national one. Lowers the entry barrier a bit in case he is not familiar with sepa transfers.

Sorry to derail the thread slightly, but when I clicked the thread I really thought the title was a premise to a joke :D

Now I'm disappointed  :(

Intersango.com has a decently sized Euro market and does SEPA payments, the fee is very low and usually gets processed very fast.

If there are any problems they've got great customer support and have recently added lower maker/taker fees for liquidity providers.

They also have the best security record in the bitcoin exchange business.

Takes too long and costs too much.

On the other hand, Bitcoin-Central.net is perfect for Germans, it's fast, and free.

He doesn't, he declares Bitcoinia to be a dagger pointed at the heart of Germany and sends the tanks in?
