Title: Mining in Ubuntu 12.04
Post by: caish5 on April 27, 2012, 05:00:56 AM
So i went ahead and did a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04.
None of the old guides seem to work anymore.
Anyone have an idea of how to get my mining operations up and running again?

Thanks

Never mind it's gotten much easier now.

In case anyone is wondering...

Install Restricted AMD drivers from repos
Download http://developer.amd.com/Downloads/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.6-lnx64.tgz
cd to where you saved it
sudo ./Install-AMD-APP.sh
Reboot
sudo apt-get install python-pyopencl

Then download your mining software of choice and you're good to go.

Thanks, I just upgraded from 11.10 and was wondering if there were a better way.

Has the mining problem with more than one ATI card disappeared with Ubuntu 12.04 ?

I'm using:

For my 7970:
Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits - server
Catalyst 12.4
CGMiner 2.4.0

For my 5XXX:
Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits - server
Catalyst 11.12
SDK v2.4
CGMiner 2.4.0

All working just fine.

Cheers!
Thiago

So this is the way to go. I installed the old SDK for openCL and it was not working.

I'll give this a shot tonight and let you know how it goes.

Also, I have 2 5850's and 1 5830.

2 of the 3 cards show up as connected. I am using 1 riser for x1 and 2 standard x16 slots.

Thanks,
