Post by: squall1066 on April 27, 2012, 05:30:11 PM
hi, I need an air aftermarket cooler (heat sink and fan) for a 5970, the stock one it bad and noisy. something like (or even) Accelero XTREME 5970, i dont know if there are better ones.

i'm in mainland uk.

yes i'm new and i dont have many BTC at the moment (late adopter) so, i'm good for a paypal trade?
get my name out there and get known.

either p.m. me or post here price with shipping.

thanks

I think you would be better off replacing the original fan.

Be careful installing the Accelero, apparently that cooler has been fried a lot of 5970s.

It depends on your situation.  Most of the aftermarket coolers do not route the heat out the back of the case.  They either need an open case or a very well ventilated case. Having two video cards in a case where the air is not routed out the back is a bad idea.

Personally I think the OEM style HSF is best because it allows you to funnel cool air directly through the card and creates a tunnel effect. You can also force air through them by putting a fan behind it so you don't have to run the card fan so high. The acceleros just pull air in from every which way.

You'll also spend less on an OEM HSF. If you have a shroud I have a spare heatsink and fan.

acctually, this is all good stuff, your all right and i get it now, after thinking about it, i was just thinking its best to replace with something better as the baring is noisy, but a mate all ready has a fan to replace mine.

thanks for your input guys (guyettes)

i think i'm sorted now so i can lock this.
