Title: Bitcoin Foundation's first Asian affiliate crushed!
Post by: BTCIndia on September 16, 2014, 05:08:19 AM
Bangladesh much hyped by Bitcoin Foundation as first affiliate in Asia is crushed by its central bank. How is Bitcoin foundation planning to  back those limited enthusiast/network(er)/publicity agents?

If they banned Bitcoin in Canada, the Co-op would keep doing what we're doing until literally forced to stop. I don't think the Foundation's Bangladeshi affiliate can be counted out, either. You can get away with a surprising number of things in South Asia if you have more money than the local police, which most bitcoiners do.

Bitcoin Foundation, what had it done from inception to the present?

Its not what they've done so far. Question is- what they plan to do now? How are they going to help affiliate?

Believe it or not! Bitcoin Foundation is representative of Bitcoin. Not to us, but to general public. Okay?

Maybe Bitcoin's benefits over traditional currencies never come into the spotlight... The only things ever getting the spotlight are the bad parts of Bitcoin.

Unfortunately not everyone lives in a free place. I know it is being looked at, but options inside of Bangladesh may be quite limited. It's not like the foundations have any leverage over the government there. Hopefully they will see other countries benefiting from bitcoin and change their mind.
As far as what the foundation does, this might help. https://bitcoinfoundation.org/

There are far too many efforts to go into here.

Just because something's illegal doesn't make an organization trying to further its cause is illegal as they aren't necessarily engaging in illegal activities. In most places where piracy is illegal, Pirate Parties are still tolerated. -And the same goes for Gay Rights organizations or certain drug decriminalization organizations. ... Assuming Bangladesh isn't banning pro-crypto speech and associations - I don't know too much about how they operate...

How is this anything but bad news for Bitcoin? Or do you seriously believe the majority of normal law abiding citizens would be willing to risk 12 years in jail under money laundering charges just so they could use Bitcoin?
