      Hardfork at Block 290,00. Upgrade to 0.8.6.6

      The hardfork to the new dynamic reward implementation will occur at block 290,000. The new source can be found here

      The windows binary can be downloaded here : 0.8.6.6 HIRO Client (Windows) (http://downloads.xc-official.com/atcsecure/HIRO_PROJECT/hirocoin-qt.zip)

      Introduction

      With professional Scrypt mining hardware on the way it is time to look for the best alternative hashing solution that will keep crypto currency within reach of everyone. ASIC Scrypt miners look to be expensive and may result in Scrypt coins being mined by professional companies. There may be a time when Scrypt is mined only by the few who can afford to invest heavily. This breaks the decentralization at the heart of crypto currency. KNc plans to bring out their 250MH Scrypt ASIC by Q2/Q3.

      For Hirocoin we decided to follow the X11 hashing solution. We would recommend that others follow this lead, the more support for X11 out there the better the tools will be. X11 may well become the most popular GPU hashing solution out there. We hope to get Hirocoin in a prominent place when this time comes. GPU miners having to leave Bitcoin gave a huge boost to Scrypt based coins like Litecoin. When GPU miners leave Scrypt they will look for an efficient alternative and X11 is what they are looking for.

      X11 - Future Home of GPU Miners

      X11 uses the following for complex hashing, blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd and echo. There is GPU mining software available for X11 which makes it a suitable hashing solution. CPU only coins quickly become run by botnets and virtual machines with large numbers of vCPUs. GPU mining protects against this sort of unfair mining. Because of the complexity in X11 it is unlikely that we would see an ASIC for it any time soon, keeping coins that choose X11 to be mined on common and affordable hardware, therefore decentralising the hash power as originally intended by Satoshi.

      Best Security Features

      Hirocoin uses the best security features available in crypto to secure the safety of those who use us. We aim to keep using the best and will incorporate new or improved solutions into Hirocoin.

      http://www.hirocoin.org/img/bullet.pngNite's Gravity Well is now becoming popular with many altcoins. This offers rapid response and recovery from multipools who can leave coins with very high difficulties and long block times. This proves to be very good at dealing with the effects of multipools on small coins, which explains its sudden rise in popularity.
      http://www.hirocoin.org/img/bullet.pngAutomatic Checkpointing stops blocks being orphaned and transactions being reversed. 51% attacks result in the loss of time, money and confidence. This protection broadcasts checkpoints rather than a core developer hard coding them into the source. As a result this is also finding its way into more coins who cannot safeguard their blockchain without it.
      http://www.hirocoin.org/img/bullet.pngTime Travel limitation reduces the ability for attackers to try and force on very old blocks or very new block to try and change difficulty adjust behaviour. The ability to warp the blockchain time and also been limited. Blocks submitted more than 15 minutes outside of the blockchain's time will be rejected and other nodes cannot affect blockchain time by more than 14 minutes.

      Fully Featured Development

      Hirocoin has been carefully developed and has gone through a thorough check list to make sure that all required work has been completed before launch. Some of the key items are outlined below.

      pchStartMessage - This is a unique set of numbers used to communicate between nodes. Often this is left the same as the original software leaving the nodes trying to connect other non-native networks.

      ECDSA keys - These are the keys used to send out messages to the nodes on the network. Some may remember when numerous coins displayed notifications to upgrade to the latest version of Litecoin.

      sendalert - This function allows us to send messages to the network in case of an emergency. This can only be used if you have the private key which is as likely to be guessed as a private key for an address, so never.

      DNS Seed Node - This is used by nodes to find others on the network meaning that when you turn Hirocoin on it connects to he DNS Seed node to find other Hirocoin clients without any manual effort.

      Unique Testnet Genesis Block - Unique genesis blocks have been created for the mainnet and testnet. It is possible to run a test network of Hirocoin without the need for any code modification.

      URL Support - You can put Hirocoin links into your webpage, when users click on them Hirocoin will open with address, amount and label automatically populated.

      QR Code - Hirocoin has built in QR code support so you can generate QR codes from within the software for use on websites, posters or where ever else you want to display them.

      Is it a **New Dev** or a "New Dev"? Are there one or more? You're tagged as part of a team of Hirocoin "Dev"'s, so was someone added or replaced?

      I'm taking over as lead developer. I am also waiting on hearing back from some people who may be joining the development team also.

      I have dropped the fee from http://omargpools.ca/hiros to 0%. This is to encourage miners to switch to a pool that is running on the newest client.

      I now have confirmation that our major exchanges MintPal, Allcoin and Poloniex have updated to the newest client.

      Please remind any pools owners that you are mining with to update to the newest client.

      I also have confirmation from SuchPool.

      Yes, I haven't heard from HIRO in over a month.

      However everything seems to be in place for a smooth hard fork tomorrow. Remember to set your miners to one of the pools that are on the newest client!

      It seems that pools did not update in time for the hardfork. Suchpool and Suprnova I can confirm were not on the correct version as they are continuing to solve blocks.

      Please git pull from the latest source. The hardfork has been pushed back once again to block 287,500.

      You will have to start the daemon with the -reindex option to sync correctly.

      What about exchanges? we need to exchange coins for our miners, this is not gonna work unless there is general consensus!

      The exchanges had updated already. I have confirmation from MintPal, Poloniex and Allcoin.

      Suchpool said that they were updating to the new source in a message to me but apparently they did not.

      Suprnova is the only other major pool that has not responded to update.

      A new windows wallet will need to be compiled to allow resyncing to the current network.

      The linux daemon will sync correctly using -reindex.

      It looks like ConnectBlock is passing a pointer to the current block index to GetBlockValue.
      CreateNewBlock is passing a pointer to the previous block index to GetBlockValue.

      This is causing them to generate different coinbase amounts, and ConnectBlock is rejecting the block created by CreateNewBlock.

      Please git pull the new updates from https://github.com/OmarxGx/Hirocoin

      I have added additional rules to disconnect from the old client beginning at block 287,500. This should ensure that the hardfork will occur regardless of where the new block is solved as the old client will be invalidated.

      Great... but there are now 3 versions of the code on the network sporting the version number v8.6.5 70013 (and one v8.6.5 70012):

      Hiro's fork at 224000 (70012)
      Omar's fork at 285550
      Omar's fork at 287550
      Omar's fork at 287550 w/disconnect other versions

      It would be nice if you updated version numbers as you updated code, particularly when you are altering the block chain.

      The rule will check for Protocol version 70013. The other versions never synced and the code also checks for chain length so we shouldn't see any issues. I will keep in mind to update the version numbers regardless each time I do make an edit.

      Thanks

      So it looks like there was an error in Hiro's original code which has caused these errors in hardforking.

      I have opted for a direct halving at block 288,000 in the meantime. I'll be investigating the issue and will issue a fix when possible. I was told by Hiro that this update had been tested previously but I will test it myself.

      please allow people time to update before forking, also what about exchanges?

      I have submitted what I hope to be the final change to the github. I had some help from Raveneye to fix the bug causing the ConnectBlock error.

      If you download the client you should be able to sync correctly to the current chain that I am on along with the clients who did not upgraded as it's the longest one. The client will disconnect at block 290,000 and MintPal will allow deposits and withdrawals on the new client as soon as the move to MintPalv2 is complete.

      Please update to the new client and use this in your hirocoin.conf to sync to the correct chain with the new client.

      UPDATED LIST OF NODES (v. 0.8.6)

      addnode=93.178.105.197
      addnode=176.28.13.164
      addnode=67.215.11.195
      addnode=188.226.194.191
      addnode=110.143.228.78
      addnode=54.193.113.180
      addnode=192.99.32.187

      Sorry for the inconvenience

      The block explorer is now running correctly. It can be found here:

      http://explorer.hiropool.org:3001/

      There's an issue with the Insight Explorer and X11 hash function causing live block updates to cause a crash. Everything besides the latest blocks tab is functional. The correct block height is available at the top and syncs correctly.

      The hardfork is complete and the dynamic block rewards are now in place. Please remember to download the newest client in the ANN post. MintPal should be on the new client when MintPalv2 is active.

      Allcoin has updated to the newest client.

      Add the list of nodes to your conf. I have 13 connections on the block explorer, 6 on my pool and 7 on my personal wallet. Hopefully as time goes on the DNSeeder should become more efficient and automatically connecting the clients to nodes.

      hmmmm. i see a warning, and my wallet was able to connect to this node,
      and 3-4 more the same old protocol, i thought it shouldn't:

      {
      "addr" : "162.243.212.142:9348",

      "inbound" : false,
      "startingheight" : 290539,
      "banscore" : 0
      }

      The links have been updated with the windows client that includes the rule. The linux clients are correctly disconnecting from the old nodes.

      That P2Pool hasn't updated to the current client and is on an invalid fork. To check the current valid block chain check the block explorer.

      I 0.8.6.5 nodes are from the previous attempt to fork. In the next update with the new wallet UI I'll update the rule to only connect to 70014 Protocol (Next Version).

      I constantly get "Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade." error. What could be causing this problem ? I've tried to download the whole block chain with new wallet and got the same error. I''m using windows client 0.8.6.6.

      In the hirocoin folder found in AppData, delete the blocks folder, chainstate folder and database folder.

      Delete your peers.dat file and add this to your conf

      I'll look into getting a new scanner. As far as I know however, the current Hiro P2Pool code will need to be modified for the new subsidy implemented.

      Replaced the wallet.dat of the empty new wallet with the old one with all my hirocoins in it. Everything is fine.

      I also tried to import the old PK into the new wallet and it worked. Now i have my same old hiro address, all my funds and no error message.

      I had to create a new deposit address in poloniex. Even if the button says "deposits temporarily disabled" it is possible to click and get a deposit address. Transaction worked very well, my 2 HIRO are now in my poloniex account.

      polo may work or not, depends on luck

      Does withdrawal from mintpal work? I have a lot of HIROs there and I want to keep them save longterm in my local wallet. But I can only transfer the whole amount with the actual mintpal withdraw function. They have no field for an amount there. But if mintpal is not working at the right wallet then my coin maybe all get lost.

      network is far from dead:

      Yes, I can confirm this, poloniex works well.
      But has someone tried hirocoin withdrawal from mintpal?
      I have nearly a million there and won't loose them.
      Is there a way to check if mintpal is on the right wallet and blockchain?

      "errors" : "Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.",

      If you are getting this error you may have to re-download the block chain. I had to do that last night, my wallet is working fine now. Deposits to Allcoin are confirming quickly... and I just sold some ;D.

      Omars pool has been up and down like a yoyo the last couple of days (not sure what's going on there), we mined a whole a bunch of orphaned coins. We ended up setting up our own pool to use until the regular pools get sorted out. You are welcome to use it if you want. http://hiro.ghsmining.com (http://hiro.ghsmining.com)

      technically if those 50k coins were mined or received before the fork (block 290k)
      you have chances to get them back if you have wallet backup.
      if they were mined on old chain after the fork - they are actually not Hirocoins anymore.
      of course the dev could help you personally in some way
      but where is he  ::)

      I have my wallet file, but I'm using the same wallet file after the fork, as I was using before. I mined most of those coins before the fork

      dude, relax. We always go out of our way to make this stuff right. Give us a chance.....

      *edit* we are still going through transactions manually. there were about ~6000 blocks found around the time of the fork. payout scripts are paused until then so we dont pay out blocks mined on the wrong fork. Everyone that is mining now is guaranteed to receive their coins once we turn the scripts back on.

      Sounds like you are connecting to old wallet that's corrupting your blockchain... luck of the draw maybe?
      It's a little out of my ballpark but you could try this: Re-sync your wallet then turn it off. Delete your peers.dat file and then start it back up. It worked for me. I'm only getting connections to updated wallets now.

      Coinwarz promptly to my request and are updating their client and will be relisting Hiro after re-sync... Hopefully they don't run into the problem ???

      On the other hand there is http://whatmine.com/. Although I have directed them to the new thread they running the wrong client and have not responded... Maybe some more complaints add to their incentive.
      According to their listing somebody is still mining at 60+ MH on the old fork, that's probably causing some of our syncing problems.

      Allcoin has updated the popup on their main page to point to the new thread by a simple request.
      There are numerous links on various sites pointing in the wrong direction. You don't have to be on the dev team to request that pools or services update there links or clients, just a concerned Hirocoin supporter.

      *edit* we are still going through transactions manually. there were about ~6000 blocks found around the time of the fork. payout scripts are paused until then so we dont pay out blocks mined on the wrong fork. Everyone that is mining now is guaranteed to receive their coins once we turn the scripts back on.

      wow you looking on the old bitcointalk page here is the new one    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=787471.0 i suggest you do more home work and here are the new nodes as a puote I have submitted what I hope to be the final change to the github.

      addnode=93.178.105.197
      addnode=176.28.13.164
      addnode=67.215.11.195

The correct block height is available at the top and syncs correctly.,,,

      Nobody is happy when you open one of those old wallets.

      The current wallet is listed at the beginning of this thread.
      "version" : 70013,
      "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.6.6/",

      Hiro stopped updating the old thread, so the information there is quite outdated.

      Peers of other coins also not showing same blockheight with getpeerinfo. I think can just ignore the warning message (I am also still getting the "Displayed transactions many not be correct!.....") if you are using the correct wallet v0.8.6.6. I solo mined several hundred thousands of Hiro and sold in Poloniex without problem.

This is to encourage miners to switch to a pool that is running on the newest client.

      really ?

      quote from you to cryptoglance dev , if you cant do php how the hell is this one man shop gonna make this coin relive ?

      its been 1 week now since last post , nothing fixed, no block explorer, and still those bad blocks.

      Are you serious ?

      Sure, here's a screenshot. I also had some features I wanted to add to the
      current app to support my pool, HiroPool.

      I wanted to:
      - include Hiropool.org/api as a supported pool option.
      - Remove net hashrate and difficulty when HiroPool is selected to prevent
      other from guessing which coin we're mining (protect profits)
      - Call HiroPool's balance from Hiropool.org/hiro instead of HiroPool.org/api

      If you could help me with those features it would be greatly appreciated.
      I'm sure they would be quick edits but you'd know the code better than I do.

      I've been in talks with another cryptocurrency team regarding a M&A. Hirocoin as it stands would be exchanged at a determined ratio into the coin which would be acquiring us.

      We'd essentially be absorbed into that crypto and I would have a seat on that team to voice the opinions of the current Hirocoin investors.

      This is the reason why development has come to a standstill. The current issues with Hirocoin would require another hardfork which would involve all the current Hirocoin users and exchanges to once again update their client or face have multiple forks on the network.

      The current state of Hirocoin is too fragile for another hardfork and this M&A seems to be the best option going forward. With the new coin we'd be absorbed into we'd gain access to a full-time team, a larger community and fellow investors and essentially a better chance at surviving the current alternate cryptocurrency environment we're faced with.

      I'd like to get the community's thoughts on this.

      Why do the current issues require another hardfork?
      Why can't just everyone use the actual client version and everything is fine?
      What has to be fixed in the wallet code?

      I am still waiting to get my 939856 HIRO withdrawn from mintpal (status: withdraw requested).

      It is NO option for me to give up HIRO and to change into another crypto !!!

      What is so difficult to do all the needed changes in the wallet and to do another hardfork?

      If you can't, I am able to do the source code changes and deliver new wallets (win, mac and source code).

      the coin is not fragile, perhaps the dev is fragile,
      there's no danger in hardforking 1-2 more times
      if everything is properly planned and announced

      so, should we start a voting about the future of Hirocoin (let the community choose)?

      Hardly the main reason. If I recall correctly, the main dev put the coin on the back burner to go help another coin at that time, while that coin took off and those of us who supported Hiro were left out to dry.

      Of all things that has chapped me in my time in cryptos, this one took the cake. Of course over time I have gotten used to this, but back then, man I was really disappointed. IMO, anything to bring this baby back.

      I never did this before, but it should be possible, if you can find a coin with this functionality already implemented. Then I can analyze the code and implement blocking of older wallet versions. This is a great idea and should be standard in every coin.  :)

      But the big question/problem could be that this code has to be in all clients, also in the old ones. The client has to check, if it is the right actual version and if not than it will not download blocks and will never synchronize. I dont't know if it is possible that new clients, new blockchain can stop the working of older client versions.  :-\

      The poll is now active.

      Regarding the code to disconnect from invalid versions, it is present currently. I did make the mistake of reusing a protocol version of a Hirocoin wallet that did not have working dynamic rewards. However, the block chain would be stuck on those wallets and the newest wallet would display a warning only but still use the correct blockchain (longest one).

      I'm waiting on confirmation from the team that is interested in acquiring Hirocoin so that I can publicly announce their name as I'm sure it would help in deciding the future of Hirocoin.

      I have received and sent from my personal wallet with the warning displayed without a problem, however, when the problem occurs with my pool I can't mine on it until I resync... which is a pain in ass, and I do believe that is the reason that coinking dropped Hiro. Funny thing, if I keep a couple of machines on the pool it stays in sync but if they lose connection for any period of time it goes out of sync,,,???

      The poll is now active.

      Regarding the code to disconnect from invalid versions, it is present currently. I did make the mistake of reusing a protocol version of a Hirocoin wallet that did not have working dynamic rewards. However, the block chain would be stuck on those wallets and the newest wallet would display a warning only but still use the correct blockchain (longest one).

      I'm waiting on confirmation from the team that is interested in acquiring Hirocoin so that I can publicly announce their name as I'm sure it would help in deciding the future of Hirocoin.

      So you already did announce it with the poll?
      GRS? It hasn't been mentioned on their thread.

      I mined hirocoin on koinpool.com/hirocoin-mining-pool/ and it was working for a short time. I was getting uncorfirmed coins and then they got confirmed. But then a few weeks ago I saw all of my coins had become unconfirmed. Why is that

      You should try to contact hiro and omar and see what they think about it.

      It is sad to see what is happening to this coin. It started realy good.
      It had some things developed that some other coins dont have after one year  right from the begining.

      Poloniex Notice board:

      Notices
      On 2/8/2016, the following markets will be delisted: CMNT, HIRO, NXTI, XAI, CHA, OPAL, CYC, URO, UIS, HUGE, PRC, JLH.

      So I guess it is all over....:(

      There are no nodes left, so i don't know how anyone will get coins in/out of the exchange at this point.
      I was one of 3 for a while, one was the exchange wallet, the last was someone mining here and there...now there are none...

      Last block 936713...didn't even make it to a million

      Sad, this was one of the first coins I ever mined...

      No, I'm not a Dev for this coin.

      I work with 020 and Binary currently and am very behind in launching sites and some more support application I've also been busy integrating new features into wallets to help people in the ease-of-use aspect of Crypto. That's another story though.

      020 almost tanked like this Hirocoin in the begining and someone came along to help with it. Was hoping to do the same thing in return for another community.

      As a considerable holder of this coin myself I would like to voice my opion against a conversion/swap. Hardforking and all these swaps cause nothing but issues. This chain seems to have ran fine. WHY mess with it? Improvement is needed sure but not hasty decisions that just rip the community apart.

      Hello everyone,

      currently have a working node for you all thanks to a wonderful forum user "unklo" who provided us their node (who is aligned with aikapool).

      Code:
      addnode=159.203.12.73:9348

      Just a heads up to all, CryptoCoderz can launch 10-12 nodes on the spot, build wallets and continue development. (Have come back full swing)
      The only thing is we don't know where the community stands on this as apparently someone wants to burn this wonderful coin and trade it out for a new project (which will most likely just be another pump and dump)

      Anyone still involved in Hirocoin let us know.
      In the meantime we will be finishing up other projects  as we've been behind.

      a reminder:
      hirogen node is online until polo delisting on Feb 08,
      it was meant to let the coin die in battle rather than in hospital.
      after that all further tech stuff please address to mighty CryptoCoderz,
      who's welcome to take over any time he wishes w/o any questions imho,
      nip me if i'm wrong

      Hirocoin Community let you voice be heard!
      If there are no complaints CryptoCoderz will launch nodes and continue development on Hirocoin.

      We've already contacted Poloniex about having the Delist reconsidered. With hirogen node going down we will be launching two nodes today to strengthen the network in preparation for feb 8 when it is scheduled to go down (thanks loq97 for the heads up).

      Lets not let this thing flop guys!
      Will be waiting to hear for the community, in the meantime about to launch a few sites. Will be back later to check up on hirocoin

      ]continue development on Hirocoin.

      Go for it, you can not possibly do a worse job than the last dev ;P

      Hiro has a lot of pluses as it stands now, I don't really understand why the interest level dropped so low. There are several features in the wallet than newer more popular coins still don't have, the wallet is reasonably well behaved, and there was always at least some buy support, even if it wasn't going to make you instantly rich.

      Surprised how well the network came back together, there are 6 nodes connected to me now, for weeks I could not find any...

      (Thank earlier dev for dropping the seed node)

      If you are going to revamp the existing wallet, the little feature where it slowly deletes all the peers in the peer database when it isn't connected should really get fixed..

      PS: Anyone have any idea who is running the node with the obsolete network version? it has been up for months, doing nothing useful

      Okay I'm sorry but I have to say something... What is up with all the 1 post users?
      End rant

      Anyway no disrespect, moving on: well that would make sense why I've had a random connection that drops all the time.
      Would be nice to have that person update their client.
      We do plan to revamp the existing wallet with new features.

      Currently we have designed and built a client wrapper which runs update checks against secure servers run all in house so users don't have to go checking for updates or wake up one morning to find out their wallet won't sync.
      Further more other features such as an auto-generated config file with pre-input config info just like in all other coins involved with CryptoCoderz so that users do not have to worry about creating or entering config settings. (Users can if they want wallet will skip creating config if a config file already exists)

      One last thing. We will not fork a coin that we participate with EVER. We support existing projects ONLY. Hirocoin is a great coin and should not be lost in the sea of fud.
      PS: Although this coin seriously needs to be hard capped and that would be the first thing on our agenda.

      Hey there! Well I do offer bounties to help offset some development workload (Main reason the new ANN isn't posted and AIkapool is freaking about my newly updated github for the coin since its on a github and not released) since our workload is currently substantial it has caused major delays and over promised release dates.
      So if you want to get back into Hiro (I don't have ALOT but I have a decent amount) I can share some and get you back into it.
      We are looking to grow the community and restore people's faith in this project.

      No more Delays, We launch today FYI to all (Bugs are worked out)!!! New ANN will be posted lated by END OF DAY.

      New nodes have been launched and hardcoded into the new wallet.
      New features include:
      Auto-updating wallet (you'll never be running on an outdated client anymore)
      Auto-generating config file (editable after generation or the wallet will not generate if you have one previously setup)

      BIGGEST NOTE: This wallet upgrade will NOT mess you or your coins up. This is a seamless upgrade that is aimed at capping the coin at it's stated cap by the previous developers, adding stability and increasing security while at the same enhancing usability.

      New mining pool:
      http://minedowns.ga/

      WOW thank you for your support and the pool! Will definitely check it out!
