If that also removes all the Kremlin trolls from forums, then I'm all for it.

I thought Russia is disconnecting to protect themselves against cyberwar. It sounds like they are unplugging for a media lockdown?

You cannot hack top Russian officials. They are using typewriters. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/10173645/Kremlin-returns-to-typewriters-to-avoid-computer-leaks.html

This is more like controlling the information from outside source.

Someone need learn Russian, before to post similar lie.
Russian Federation will have the answer how to run computers in network, if foreign DNS will be cutted in the way how VISA cut payments to Russian customers.

It's because we have come to expect certain things from Russian government.

I would not doubt that Russia would try this in the event of civil unrest that is threatening the russian government. I do not believe however that they would be able to effectively "turn off" the internet. There would simply be too many "holes" in the process of doing so

it's kinda hard to take over the world when you can't even control your own people. not to mention the oligarchs in russia aren't too happy with losing their billions. just play a game of attrition and see how long russia can last.

Go, anonymous. Strike against russian internet targets and servers. Protest loudly in front of their embassies, throw eggs at em, bitch and moan as if you are entitled to throw a fucking hissy fit! If you feel brave enough, hide behind your 'rights' while bitching.

Wait, they will probably kill you if you do.

When a real authoritarian government bans bitcoin, chokes down exchanges, and even tries to shut down the internet, these fools are full of excuses and side stepping cowardice. But if someone who they 'think' can bitch at seems to do something they don't like? Call the fucking ambulance because the ninnies need a fainting chair delivered in minutes.

Pussies :D

This kind of selective fragmentation of the internet at the behest of vested interests is dangerous and imperils us all
The West should lean heavily on Putin but they won't and in any case have a bad track record in this matter themselves

In April, Putin characterized the Internet as "a special project of the CIA," reflecting his long held suspicion of the Internet and unfamiliarity with it. Putin reportedly does not use the internet, in contrast to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a well known technology enthusiast whose political clout has waned since he left the presidency in 2012.

Russia's Security Council will convene on Monday to discuss the government's ability to isolate the Russian segment of the internet from the global network during times of crisis, such as military action or foreign-sponsored protests, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday, confirming earlier speculation in Russian media.

In comments carried by Interfax, Peskov denied that Russia was planning to entirely cut off the Russian Internet — known as RuNet — but said due to the "unpredictable behavior" of the U.S. and EU, "we have to think about how to ensure our national security."

Now for the russian propaganda sources:

However, he stressed that “recently, a fair share of unpredictability is present in the actions of our partners both in the US and the EU, and we [Russia] must be prepared for any turn of events.”

“We all know who the chief administrator of the global internet is. And due to its volatility, we have to think about how to ensure our national security,” Vladimir Putin’s press-secretary said.

It’s not about disconnecting Russia from the World Wide Web, but about “protecting it from possible external influence,” he concluded.

Lie:

But you believe a lie because it is more profitable. Ok. You can  write that Russia is a cannibalism and of slavery  country. Or any other lie and believe it  ;)

In 2 years Russia can annex North Korea , there will be no difference.
Because all of this "facts" about North Korea are speculation of your propaganda, I begin to think  that North Korea is a normal country.
