Title: Bitcoin for usenet Post by: ryu-fk on May 02, 2012, 11:01:50 PM I've decided to offer usenet accounts for bitcoin but before I go ahead I just want to check what the interest would be. Would you subscribe to a reliable usenet provider for bitcoin?
Title: Re: Bitcoin for usenet Post by: Red Emerald on May 03, 2012, 06:13:14 PM If bitcoin's price jumps again, will you still be charging 4-5 BTC a month, or would you peg the price to USD?
Title: Re: Bitcoin for usenet Post by: ryu-fk on May 03, 2012, 06:33:31 PM I would make the bitcoin price variable, so it will be pegged to around $20 but I won't be adjusting the price for minor fluctuations or on a regular basis. So if the bitcoin price jumps up I would slash the price.

Something like what bitcointorrentz.com does? I wasn't planning on doing that since I just wanted to focus on offering unlimited accounts for a reasonable price, but if the demand was there yes I would include that.Title: Re: Bitcoin for usenet Post by: bitfoo on May 03, 2012, 07:43:12 PM Would it be possible to also offer a different pricing model based on bandwidth used? I think you should take advantage of this and offer such a service: I'm sure there will be demand if implemented right. Title: Re: Bitcoin for usenet Post by: ryu-fk on May 09, 2012, 01:57:40 PM No it's $15, astraweb have the advantage of being a large company so they can afford to set lower prices, and they don't accept bitcoin. the price isn't final, I'll release more information at the end of the week. I probably will drop the price to $15 and there will be an option to buy a years subscription for a discounted rate. And an option to buy 3 months for around $30.

Yea agreed, its taking me a while to get this done but im hoping to get the service out soon. Does $14 seem okay? Title: Re: Bitcoin for usenet Post by: RoloTonyBrownTown on July 23, 2012, 12:16:46 PM I'm on the Astraweb $8 per month unlimited plan (which is available for anyone by the way, just google astraweb $96 and it'll pop up), so I will probably stick with that for now.
However I do see the appeal of paying with btc. |
