Title: Alt accounts in the Currency Exchange forum
Post by: ruggedman_dan on September 21, 2014, 09:44:19 PM
Week in and week out I can't help but to notice the influx of brand new and newbie level users in the Currency Exchange forum. While it is certainly not a bad thing for newcomers to join, I find it very hard to believe that most of these guys are new comers. Many of these guys seem like they have traded here before in the past after reading their initial posts. Just go read some of the first threads created by these "new" accounts.

Some similarities I've noticed

- They usually advertise a fairly decent chunk of coins
- They seem to think that even though they are brand new, you should still send first
- When reputable members offer to deal, they disappear
- They drop names of top escrow providers just for shits and giggles.

Anyone else noticing this?

Haha. Yeah, this is nothing new. You can extend this kind of activity to pretty much all the Marketplace subs. Some users here will just be full time scammers and as soon as they ruin an account / successfully scam they'll just move on to the next and start again.

It's weird being a Newbie in the forum and wanting to exchange, I'm just going to wait until I have more posts, more activity etc.

Build up small trades and stuff. It's not worth the hassle being a Newbie :P

You can do trades as a newb, as long as you offer escrow and actually intend to use it then you'll be fine. You'll soon build up some feedback and trade history as well, but sadly many newbs who sign up here and head straight to the Marketplace are trying to scam so people are weary of them all now.

There are tons of these (most likely owned by some big alt-coin whale doing the bumping before selling) and few operators. The issue is this forum's rules isn't against that (although it's a kind of over-bumping?)
