Title: How to generate QR Code from bitcoin address?
Post by: FutureMoneyTrends on September 22, 2014, 02:38:35 AM
I want a big QR code; i have a small one

the problem is; keep trying to use a free generating site to make it and the QR's are all different! They don't make the same QR as the original small code I have.

Using this QR decoder i can re-upload the image to check and the original results in the bitcoin address
but some of the new generated different QR codes look to be wrong:

Do you know a qr generator for bitcoin address that works? Who do you trust?

blowing up my small pic makes it blurry

Thanks, ignore below for a sec, do you know the difference between qr resulting in: "Bitcoin:BTCADDRESS" vs just showing the btc address as text? would a bitcoin payment scanner app on phone only work if the qr has the bitcoin:ADDRESS url? or if it just returns the address without a label will it just recognize that?

bitcoin:1LefuVV2eCnW9VKjJGJzgZWa9vHg7Rc3r1

-------------------------- crap below

Okay using this address as example:  1LefuVV2eCnW9VKjJGJzgZWa9vHg7Rc3r1

Image URL here: http://libertyblitzkrieg.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/lbk-post-donations.png

tested on http://blog.qr4.nl/Online-QR-Code_Decoder.aspx

Results in same address text:  1LefuVV2eCnW9VKjJGJzgZWa9vHg7Rc3r1

But btcfrog

Your small one decodes for me as:

Code:
bitcoin:1LefuVV2eCnW9VKjJGJzgZWa9vHg7Rc3r1?amount=0

Things like error correction also have an influence on how it looks.

The bitcoin: helps apps that support that URI.

If you don't trust the online or other apps, let Bitcoin Core or Armory generate the code and take a screenshot of the result.

No, sorry. It has to be an address in their database. I assumed you were using a wallet program that you trust already. You could import the private key to Core or Armory and generate it then. (actually that won't work I think, edit: it does in Armory though)

Which wallet are you using for that address?

If you really want to use *that* one, you could try to zoom in on the webpage (Ctrl +) until you have your desired size and take a screen shot then. However I think your a bit paranoid on the trust issue in this particular case. If a website or program gives you a QR code it is easy to check if it contains the information you are looking for, even if the codes are not looking the same visually. Like I said error correction for example changes the code too.

That depends on your application.

narf since grue deleted the other thread:

No the ?label= does not add a msg to the TX itself, but to the address as its stored in the client that made the TX

All you need is a QR code.
How is that an issue of trust?  Will they maliciously PAY you?

If you cannot find a website that does QR codes the way you need, PM me or reply with exactly what you need (because I cannot understand how you are having a problem in the first place) and I can put a FREE QR code generator on my website for you and everyone to use.

What features would you like?

I have made a free QR Code maker because of this idea.

Here you are!
