Title: Problems trying to solo mine
Post by: goozman96 on September 22, 2014, 05:19:52 AM
I'm trying to solo mine with a usb miner I have (sort of like a lottery ticket for finding a block) but I'm having trouble getting it to work.
I've followed directions I found on Google, but all I see CGminer say is "waiting for work to be available from pools".
I have bitcoin-qt running in server mode, I have all the necessary commands in the config file, and my bitcoin-qt is fully synced.

What could be the problem?

You haven't given your command line options. You probably haven't told cgminer that it should be looking for a http:// address to solo mine.

I have put that info in the target section in the properties of a shortcut I have for cgminer. Can you tell me what else I need to do?

This is what I have:
"xxxxxxx\cgminer.exe" --anu-freq 200 -o localhost:8332 -u X -p Q

I've tried putting http there and using 127.0.0.1 as well.

It has to be -o http://localhost:8332 and the username -u and password -p must match what you've set as the rpcuser and pass in the bitcoin.conf file

Thanks guys! I finally got it working! I had to add the http:// to the address and specify my btc address.
