Title: Bitcoin mentioned in FBI criminal complaint

During this meeting WRIGHT and BAXTER talked about getting the Anarchist Cookbook but that they have not downloaded it because they do not want to be tracked online. The group then talked about a computer program you can buy for fifteen dollars a month that keeps people from tracking you on the Internet. They discussed using pre-paid debit cards or anonymous online accounts that use alternate currencies as a proxy for real dollars like "bitcoin" accounts to buy the program without leaving a traceable financial trail. BAXTER explained that he has a friend who is a hacker and can transfer paper money to bitcoins. He stated that you need some proxy to do it and both BAXTER and WRIGHT tried to explain how the bitcoin system works

I wonder if Baxter and Wright ever posted on this forum  :-\

Remember kids, the FBI foils its own terror plots (http://yro.slashdot.org/story/12/05/01/230223/ny-times-fbi-foils-its-own-terrorist-plots), and the Justice Dept. has already said that alternative currencies like gold, silver and Bitcoin are "terrorism" and they will "infiltrate, dismantle and disrupt" (http://charlotte.fbi.gov/dojpressrel/pressrel11/ce031811.htm) groups that use them.

It was only a matter of time before the "Bitcoin anarchist" patsies started showing up.

In the Democratic People's Republic of America, explaining Bitcoin comes under "spreading terrorist information". :D

(No offence intended to OP - great find!)

WTF is America becoming, Germany 1938?
If you use cash you're a terrorist and if you use digital currency you're a terrorist. I guess no matter how we buy and sell we are all terrorists.

Aww... I came here to see what criminal complaint I was mentioned in. Fail.
Not to worry, there is always the Faceless Bitcoin Investigators: Special Troll Unit. I here they have an ongoing investigation. ;D

I guess if Bitcoin Magazine doesn't publish any information that explains Bitcoin, then MNW should be OK and be able to visit the states without worrying about being arrested.

I live 3 minutes from this bridge & drive over it every day...

My first response to this news article was "at least bitcoin wasn't involved."

I guess I'll have to retract my statement?  They only considered using bitcoin to purchase the online anarchist cookbook?  Doens't sound like they actually used it though.

These are the kinds of people that give reasonable anarchists a bad name.
By "These are the kind of people" do you mean the FBI?
