Title: NYC Home made pizza delivery/ bitcoin
Post by: Noitev on May 11, 2011, 06:22:49 AM
Potential idea here...

I go to nyc weekly for chemotherapy and next week I want to do an experiment...

I will make pizzas in my apartment and deliver them for btc in nyc by hand via walking or biking or something. You'd call a number and I'd give you a bitcoin price right there. itd take 30-40 minutes per pizza to be cooked and any range of time to deliver depending on distance. Price would not include tip, but after you receive it, a tip to the same address would be appreciated. anyone live in new york or bergen county interested in this?, and if so, what toppings do you like? I've worked at at an organic pizza place before and will try to get organic pizzas, it may be expensive so I may also get regular pizza material.

Any feedback would be appreciated! I go to sloan kettering this next wednesday or so (may 18). I'd also love to take bitbills and would probably do a small discount for them!

This is a really awesome idea, wish I lived in NYC to take advantage of the offer.

Hope someone takes you up on the offer, but I think there's a problem with the supply-demand ratio.  You throw a rock in NYC, you'll hit a pizza place.

of course; but it's an experiment isn't it?

I would be interested to see if there is the critical mass to make something like this feasible. NYC probably has the highest density of BTC users, simply by virtue of the population density if nothing else, but I still don't think enough to make this work. Still good luck Noitev!

Here's an interesting business idea.

Suppose your pizzas are priced at $25. You could sell them now for $25 worth of bitcoins (say 5 BTC), then give the customer a full refund (i.e. $25 worth of bitcoins) in 12 months.

If the value of BTC doubles in that time, you have made a profit, and your customers have received free pizzas. Win-win!

(I'm sure you'd have no trouble hedging against any loss on #bitcoin-otc).

Thats an awesome marketing gimmick :)
