Title: looking for a trusted member of bitcoin community
Post by: cryptoCminer on September 25, 2014, 05:10:13 PM
Hi recently i put up a raffle that people can participate in to win a rockminer 800-900gh T1 Bitcoin miner! Woot! But because i was holding the entry payments ( .02 per ticket) people thought it was a scam. I need someone to hold the payments and at the end pick a winner off the ticket number i will give the contestants off a random number generator and they will win the miner!!! If you are interested in either holding them or participating, message me! Good luck everyone!

I can hold it if you need it, will i get some provision from it? When do you want to draw?

Choose a respected escrower for that. You can choose one from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0

You also need to make the draw fair and verifiable. What's to stop you picking your own 'winning' number?

The 3rd party will draw

I can help with a random number generator, with encrypted contestant names paired to ticket numbers.

Perhaps you need a website that can display the total, names of users who entered the contest, odds of winning, etc?

Try hitting up OgNasty / TomatoCage / Escrow.MS / Devthedev / monobux...any of them would be fine imo.

People always get my name wrong :( xD  But I can act as escrow for this, I charge no fees.  We would need to find a way to make sure that the "draw" is legitimate.

There's a way to do drawings with block hashes, Danny tried to explain it to me once but I never caught on. As long as the block number is given before hand everything should be publicly verifiable.

For the longest time I thought your name was Moonbux just from looking too quickly.

While you can verify by stating "a reputable member on BitcoinTalk.org provided the random draw", it may be more viable to provide physical proof.
Maybe request that the person you get to complete this task use some sort of video technology to complete it.

Whether it be Video and showing all of the ID's in a random number selector before hand, or using the "pull one from the hat" method.

You have a bit of negative feedback...probably hurts your chances of being an escrow. I have been asked by quite a few people to handle escrows, but it seems like a hassle to me. Are the tips from being an escrow really worth the effort?
